Post by: Branching out on Thursday 25 November 21 18:08 GMT (UK)
I hope someone can tell me from a obit for Hazel whom her parents were. I have two potential persons of interest born in the same year but cannot determine which is the right one. need parents names to confirm.
Hazel was born on Oct 9 1920 according to family and passed away on July 9 1966. She was married to Peter Archibald Post on Sept 7, 1940.

help is appreciated!

Online tree at Ancestry has her born October 9, 1920 according to baptism at First Lutheran Church (Winnipeg), daughter of Gudmundur(?) Johnson & Mary Shivnie.  The original is available on Ancestry.  She was actually born in Kenora, Ontario but baptism is in Winnipeg in December 1920 when they were living at 424 Riverton Avenue, Winnipeg.

Ancestry have a Hazel Margaret Johnson baptism in Saskatchewan but you need a Worldwide sub to view the entry.

Thank you everyone for the information provided. It gives us lot to start with to build on. I'm going to see if I can see them on any of the census reports.

Hi,

Just to confirm, when you say "going to see if I can see them on any of the census report"
Which them? Is it the Hazel that Eileen found?

Just as an FYI, the Prairie provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) have a 1926
census.

Thank you DBree

I have looked at all the options and believe the one Eileen posted is the right family. I have found them on both the 1916 and the 1926 census.

With that information I have been able to answer questions for my cousin who was asking.
Thank you again!

The marriage cert for Peter and Hazel is available to purchase from this website. No guarantee but it should also have info about Hazel's parents.

There also appears to be a birth reg for Hazel on the above website even though the baptism indicated she was born in Ontario.

It looks like Gudmundur (Mundi) Johnson served for a short time in WW1. Click on PDF part way down to access the complete file. It will be very slow to download. Children are mentioned.

Did Hazel have a twin brother (Howard, 1921 census)? There doesn't seem to be any info about the child but he has the same age as given for Hazel (8/12).
