Title: Harriet Thrower vanished?
Post by: ahollisxo on Sunday 05 December 21 17:42 GMT (UK)
Hiya! New here, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows or could find any information on Harriet Thrower, born 1882 in Ellingham, Norfolk, England.

She was 1 of 9 siblings:
Agnes, Bertha (My 2nd Great-Grandmother), William, Maria, Harriet (missing), Rachel, Ellen, Ethel May & Alice.
Her parents were Phoebe Baker and Robert Thrower. She had one son with Robert Varden Spalding, called Dennis Walter Thrower (born 1901). I looked into why she had named her son with her last name, seems that Harriet & Robert were never married, as well as this, she was a live in servant in the 1901 census, and in the 1911 census, she was still a servant, but living with Bertha (sister) and her family, but Dennis was living with his grandparents, Phoebe and Robert Thrower. After this, there's nothing.

I have spoken to a lady, who is one of Dennis' daughter (my 2nd cousin 2x removed), who has said that in 1936, Dennis didn't know where his mother was.
I have looked on google, I've tried searching records on Ancestry, there's no death certificate, nothing. It's as if she just disappeared off the face of the planet. Does anyone know anything or is anyone able to find out? Thanks in advance.

For info

the 1911 census shows Harriet, single living with her married sister Bertha Rix in Paddington, London.

Harriett A Thrower to Bertie A Burroughs

** sorry not her, father was Clifford Thrower  :(

Do you know what happened to Ellen the other sister with her in 1911?
