Title: Zaandam records
Post by: DuncanZA on Tuesday 28 December 21 15:57 GMT (UK)
Good day everyone,

I just want to enquire as to whether or not baptism records survived from Zaandam from the 1650s or if baptisms were taking place elsewhere during that period as the earliest I have been able to find are from the 1680s.

Regards

Have you had a look at West-Zaandam and Oost-Zaandam yet ... In 1811 these 2 places became Zaandam.

Thank you TreeSpirit, the West's records do not seem to stretch that far back, and the East's have some gaps including the period in question, so no luck I am afraid. Thank you for the tip on the East and West though, there are at least membership lists for those periods and ondertrouws that will at least give me an avenue to dig deeper.

I am trying to find if a Geertruy Willemse was possibly baptised there. She is described as being a 19 year old from Sardam in her Ondertrouw dated 13 September 1670 in Amsterdam. The only other information I have on her for that time is that she was living with her grandmother, Annetie Mijnders in "Houtuinenrried" at the time of her ondertrouw.
