Hello , I have just bought this negative on a glass plate and put into my scanner at 600 and scanned it .Do you think it will print into a photo ok ?

Hi Alan, I am sorry there was no image attached but yes 600dpi should print very well for most size images, I print off photographs 300 DPI for A3 size prints. Just thought though what size is your negative ???

What size negative have you scanned, the file is 1417 x 945 px that you have posted. Maybe you resized it to post it here ?
I worked out the size with this tool http://auctionrepair.com/pixels.html based on those sizes it would give you a print of 2.5 x 1.5 inch which is too small.
What sort of size are you trying to achiever ?

Hello Sarah , the negative is 160 wide by 120 high . I did shrink it as it was about 1.5mb so too big to post . I ideally would like a 6 x4 photo if possible

Hi Alan Is that size mm or Pixels ?

Hello Sarah 160 mm x 120 mm and I would ideally like a photo of 150mm x 100 mm

Hi Alan,
I have just inverted the picture you posted and had a closer look and I am sorry but it does not look as sharp as I had hoped, but maybe the negative is not sharp either ? I also changed the levels to bring out some detail. Does the negative look sharp to you ?
-
That is a good size of negative.
-
Hello Sarah , I wonder if I turn the plate over and scan again to see comparison ?

Alan

Have just turned the plate over

Is there a frame or anything around the negative that is creating a gap between the negative and the scanner bed ? Yesdo try scanning the other side to see if that is any clearer, the scan is very bright, see if you can scan it a bit darker too ;)
