To anyone who used the Norfolk Sources site for 1800-1850 will, or directories.
It's gone.

Sad to see that go, it was a very useful resource.
-
Oh no!
-
I can help.
-
Thank you Magslote.
Are you local to Norwich?
-
no i am not local to norwich, but have subs to FindMyPast.
-
Are those Norfolk wills on FindMyPast?
-
yes have worldwide subs.
-
I've checked FindMyPast and there are no record sets with "Norfolk" in their name that are wills or probate documents.

Just for an instance, I had found this entry in the NRO catalogue:
Reference code : NCC will register Cooke 160
Title : Abbs, Richard, farmer, of Runton
Date(s): 1832 (Creation)
Level of description :Item
And had gone to Norfolk Sources to read the will.
If anyone knows an alternate source for this will, I'm all ears. I'm NOT going to drive 20 miles each way and park in Norwich for the privilege.

That one is a Norwich Consistory Court will, and can be seen on FamilySearch

We can't view the Archdeaconry of Norfolk wills at home on FS, so Norfolk Sources did at least give us those from 1800-57.

I've been using FS for marriage bonds for ages.
I didn't know any wills were on FS.
Thank you. I may be asking for help on how to navigate those records on FS.

Well, well, well. Here's a turn up.
Transformed from "FREE" to "part of FindMyPast"
-
it's only an index on FindMyPast
-
Yes, sadly the word "only" comes into the picture again in regards to a new genealogy database. It takes you to the NROCAT entry, you still have to hunt it out on FamilySearch by noting down the page number and year.

I only get a bad gateway error when I try the link

Well, that's very disappointing. I was all set for a weekend of will reading.
Thanks for the info.

Seems another misleading title, when in reality it is just an index, and you still have to use the often slow and sluggish FamilySearch to hunt out the original. At least the original is online, just it takes a bit of searching. Maybe they will link to the image in time.
