John Dean (b. abt. 1833 Manchester) married Elizabeth Lynch (b. abt 1841 Ireland, King’s County) on 6 Sept 1869 (St Mary, St Denys and St George, Manchester).
John Dean (16 Strand Street) was a Sawyer. Father James Dean (Printer).
Elizabeth Lynch (15 Higginston Street). Father Edward Lynch (Butcher)
In 1881 they were at 16 Peter Street, Hulme, Lancs. with children John 11 and Mary 10. In 1891 they were at 6 Beech Square, Hulme with children John and Mary.
John was employed as a Wood Sawyer.
I can’t find either of them in the 1871 census or with their families before they were married. Can you help please?

If Elizabeth was b in Ireland you won’t find her on an English census pre 1871 unless her parents moved to England. She may have only come to England after 1861

Looking very closely at the marriage image of John Dean to Elizabeth Lynch I think his father James occupation is Painter not printer. There is a baptism of a John Dean 10th August 1828 Manchester St Mary, parents James(Painter) and Martha

I wondered about the painter/printer as well,John.
There's an 1847 marriage(Manchester) for Elizabeth DEAN and John THOMAS (later found as John Carter THOMAS). Her father is James DEAN Occ: painter.
I think they were the witnesses to the DEAN/LYNCH marriage.
Maybe a sister?

I have just come across this thread. What caught my eye was the man named Dean being a plasterer. Not such a common trade but I have quite a few Dean people among my paternal ancestors, 3 of which were also plasterers.
They were brothers named James, John and Joseph Joy Dean each born around 1810-1820. The latter two raised their families in Carrickfergus Co. Antrim while James Dean raised his family in Co. Donegal.
Their father was Hercules Dean 1774 – 1849, a Catholic tenant farmer up on the top of Black mountain overlooking Belfast. There is a well-established tradition passed down through generations that Hercules’ mother was a daughter of Francis Joy, the man who established the Belfast News Letter in 1737. The name Joy, as a Christian name, has been carried down to many of the Dean descendants.
If anyone else has done any research on this family it would be great to compare notes.
