Just an update, this guy Thomas is unbelievable. In the 1901 census he is an inmate in hospital in the Horton Bradford district, same birth, same occupation but he has put his birth place down as Henley on Thames, he was born in Macclesfield Cheshire. I've checked to see if there were any other Thomas's born around that time for Henley but there isn't.

Now looking for Thomas born 1849 Macclesfield Cheshire in the 1871 census. Parents Thomas and Ann. Ann born Ireland and father Thomas born Henley on Thames.
Thankyou

By 1911 wife Eliza is a widow. Could this be Thomas's death.

I think I have found him under Newman living in Lancashire. Ann is down as born Lancashire but before it was Ireland

The 1871 you refer to has Ann as unmarried, and there is a daughter Hannah aged 18 who isn’t with the family in 1861?

Also the 1861 census with the family in Macclesfield has Ann as born in London?

Perhaps I’m looking at the wrong family.

Yes Jen b it's confusing. Charles and Thomas have the right birth year. Ann is down as a dressmaker so I thought with her husband being a tailor it might be her. I've had a look for Hannah's birth and death but not found one.
Thankyou
