Hi hoping someone can help, I am trying to locate the burial or cremation records for my great grandad and great nan, my amazing mum was the genealogist of the family but sadly passed away two years ago, I am looking to find where my great grandparents are as I know my mum would like to be with them! My mum has done so much with our family history but I am really struggling to pin point these two, Robert died in Aug 1990 and Maud died in dec 1987, I have got the gilroes index and can see that Roberts parents are there Robert 1933 and Emma 1929 but am at a loss as to where to look as I was too young to go to the funeral so cannot remember if they were buried or cremated? Any help would be really great.

Do you know their address at the time they died? Both deaths were registered in the Leics Central RD
-
When my great nana passed they lived at 333 Gooding's avenue, my grandad lived in a home not long after she passed and died there.
Robert had a memorial - at the small Church at the top of Gooding Avenue Leicester - this was on my mums records. not sure if this helps?

If you have their actual death dates you could contact the Records Office to see where they were buried/cremated etc
If you don't have that info - they may possibly make a charge
-
Ahh ok, thank you :) I have their dates yes, my mum must have done this as she was so thorough but its just working our way through all her records to find this part that's the tricky bit.
Which records office are you referring to? sorry xx

Hi, I was just wondering Which records office would this be? I haven't got any further with my search for them both :(

Did you not use the link I gave you in Reply 5? Free search shows Maud was cremated 23.12.1987 & Robert on 15.8.1990.
Think you have to pay to get the location but for Maud I would hazard a guess it was Gilroes Crem as their post code is LE3 as was Goodings Ave

There is an announcement for Maud in the Leicester Daily Mercury 18 December 1987.
Funeral at Gooding Avenue United Reform Church on Wednesday 23rd December at 2.15 cremation following at Gilroes Crematorium.
There are some tributes as well, together with some in the paper on the following day.
The Book of Remembrance may have entries if you can visit, but I can't remember if it is the date of death or the cremation.

Thank you so much Carole, I am truly grateful for this information. I wasn't 100 as to whether buried or cremated so thank you.

Thank you David, where would i find the links to these? I have been to gilroes and there is no entry in the remembrance book unfortunately.

They are in www.findmypast.co.uk and probably www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk but you will need a subscription or credits to see the images.
I think the Book of Remembrance may only go back a few years, depending on how many have been on the same day since.

You should be able to get a free trial on British newspaper archive and get I think it is 3 free copies.
-
Entries in the Book of Remembrance are dependant on family paying for the entry.
If they work the same way as the Crem in Liverpool - the relevant page is only available to view on the anniversary of the death
