Hi does anyone please have access to the marriages for Holy Island?
I would like to please know who the witnesses are (and any other information) on the marriage of Thomas Morris and Ann Allan.
They married on 12 June 1812.
There is a photo of one of their daughters and some information about Thomas Morris and his family here: https://www.islandshirearchives.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Fishing-Heritage-Katrina-compressed.pdf
My ancestor James Stephenson worked with Thomas Morris on Holy Island from c1812-c1817 in the prevention service and I would like to know if James was a witness to the marriage.
Thank you,
Jon

Hi I looked at the BTs for Holy Island, plus Free Reg and can't see this marriage.
Please could you tell me the source you have for the marriage so we have a starting point to investigate?

Yes that is the one! Thank you.
Looks like it was on 14th June 1812, not 12th though.
I can't find pre-1813 information anywhere for Holy Island.
If anyone can help that would be good.

looks like that may be the source, thanks Jennifer, though it didn't come up in a search of either the BTs or the main original Holy Island Registers on FS
The document reference is film 94996, which is in the catalogue as
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/157302?availability=Family%20History%20Library
It says its a transcript
As the notes only mention marriages to 1755 in that blurb I am at a loss as to how a marriage in 1812 would be included?

Ancestry has church records prior to 1813 I didn't see the name Stevenson

I can't find pre-1813 information anywhere for Holy Island.
The Bishops transcripts can be viewed here https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-68J9-ZKF?cc=1309819&cat=1820857 (not searchable, you must browse each page in turn)
As Boo has said, there is no sign of the marriage you mention.

From a H. Maxwell Wood transcript of Holy Island: 14 June 1812 Thomas Morris and Ann Allan, both of this parish, by banns, by L. Wilson. Witnesses: Thomas Allan, James Allan, Thomas Allan, and George Wilson.

Hello is there any chance at all that you could also please look up this marriage from this transcription for the full details:
Name: Ralph Barker
Marriage Date: 29 Nov 1812
Marriage Place: Holy Island, Northumberland, England
Spouse: Elizabeth Dickson
Ralph Dixon was also a preventive boatman who died in 1818 and they must have worked together with my ancestor James Stephenson (1790-1877).
Thank you,
Jon

Jon,
They did not actually get married at Holy Island but are registered as married Lamberton Toll. Sometimes the pastor recorded marriages done in Scotland if they were members of his parish
Lamberton 29 Nov 1812
"These are to certify all whom it may concern that Ralph Barker and Elizabeth Dickson were solemnly united by me in the holy bonds of wedlock according to the rules of the Church of Scotland and they are free from all church censure? so/or as it is known, James Aitchison
Witnesses: John Hedgley, Ann Millar, Morton? Clark and Mary Ann Clark
The above is a true copy of the certificate brought to me Dec 1st 1812 of the marriage of Ralph Barker and Elizabeth Dickson both of Holy Island, Lancelot Wilson, Minister
