Post by: Mliggett5362 on Friday 01 July 22 03:47 BST (UK)
Having difficulty trying to find emigration info on grandmother. Came from Olzanica, Poland, but it was part of Austra late 1800s to early 1900s. She married in US in 1907.she died in 1940s before I was born .she had a sister Mary and another sister who joined a convent near Chicago, IL at age of 14.

There seem to be quite a  number of candidates.

Could you expand her details?
especially: Date of birth (or approx year) !

And things like: where did she first turn up in America and/or where did she marry, who did she marry, names of parents etc

She was born March 10, 1894. I found a US census record that indicated she immigrated in 1904.

Was Orlowski her married name. If not, what was it? What state was the marriage & census in?

I think you mean 1917.
I have found a marriage cert for her in 1917 in Dallas
and passenger list in 1913/1914, ship "Kronprinz Wilhelm" sailing from Bremen

And this is why I can’t understand why people won’t give complete information, so we know for sure who we are dealing with …

I suspect that the 1907 marriage is actually correct and that it is this one in Ohio: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X8PN-289
But born in 1894 and marriage in 1907, would mean that this lady was only 13 when she got married, so something isn’t adding up. I suspect that the year of birth would have been a few years earlier.
I believe the family adapted their surname and that this is that family in the 1930 census where that immigration year of 1904 is mentioned: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X44P-9PF
==> "Katarzina" seems to have been born abt 1889/90

I have found the following 2 immigration possibilities (FYI Solina is located very close to Olszanica)

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GRJ2-JJ?i=29

could this be another option even if the name is a bit different:

She married Jan Szubelak in July 1907 in Ohio. This is confirmed fact. Census was 1930 for Ohio. It was for Campbell Ohio where they lived and raised their children.

I'd added a fourth option in my previous reply (https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=863588.msg7336162#msg7336162) and just realised that this lady was going to her father Jan Orlowski in Boardman.
Apparently Boardman Township is one of the fourteen townships of Mahoning County, Ohio, United States and Campbell, Mahoning is where Katarzyna will marry and live ....

FYI this is the departure from Hamburg

Yes we have Jan's immigration record. He did leave from Hamburg.
The Katarzyna in Dallas is not correct.
I am in Mahoning County in Ohio and don't believe her father was in Boardman. Thank you for searching though. The Jan Grantowski on Jan Szubelak's ship record is new information and may give me a lead.
