I am trying to find a birth record and Census material for Sarah Ann Shelton. She married a Frank Etherington on 25 December 1888 at St John's Church, Walworth, Surrey. Sarah gives her age as 26 and her father is John Skelton (deceased).
I have been able to find Sarah Ann in the 1891, 1901, 1911 and 1921 Census. In all of these she gives her birth place as Bolton, Lancashire. Her birth years range from 1863 to 1865 on these. On the 1921 Census, Sarah gives her age as 59 years and 6 months.
I do have a birth record for a Sarah Ann Shelton, 15 January 1864, Regent Road Salford, Lancaster. Parents are Sarah Jane Shelton (formerly Smith) and Alfred Shelton (machine fitter, journeyman). I am not sure if this is the correct one as father is Alfred and not John.
I have not been able to find Sarah Ann on any Census material prior to 1891, ie in her maiden name. I would like some help in trying to find Sarah Ann's birth registration, assuming the one I have is not correct, and also in the 1871 and 1881 Census.

I have searched for Sarah Ann using a number of surnames, including Skelton, but still have not found Sarah recorded anywhere before her marriage to Frank.

Frank and Sarah Ann were living in Camberwell for many years, but possible deaths in Lambeth?

Marriage is Sarah Skelton.
Birth registrations of children have mother's maiden surname Skelton.

I wonder if that death is not Frank's wife. At no time does Sarah provide a second name of Ann
All the children's births give the maiden name of Skelton as on the marriage certificate.

Just checked the original image for that death for Sarah & agree with Jonw that the age at death is 57 not 75

It may not be her death, I really don't know.
I can't find her in 1939.
She is Sarah Ann Etherington on the electoral registers, at 6 Albany Street, S.E.5, up until 1937
And, yes, that is Sarah Ann(a) in the 1921 free index, at same address.

Sorry to all who have replied to my original post. I generally receive an email notifying me of responses but for some reason I received the first from Wivenhoe and the most recent from jonw65. I did not realize that a new thread had been started.
Frank Etherington did die in 1937, 3 October at Camberwell. Probate records give his date of death and also mention Rose Mary Etherington, his daughter. Sarah Ann Etherington died in July 1938 and was buried July 9th at the Nunhead Cemetery (Southwark), the same place as her husband. The burial register gives her age as 75.
I will read through the posts that have been made and will look further into these. I do have the details of Sarah's 1921 Census entry. She gives her age as 59 years and 6 months.
jonw65, I have not lost interest. Am still researching Sarah Ann Skelton/Shelton. Have looked at many entries on the GRO Index and also on Ancestry/Find my Past and Family Search and am not able to find a Sarah that could fit.
