Title: Acton Cemetery
Post by: Greaves on Thursday 28 July 22 18:28 BST (UK)
By searching Ancestry, I have found that three of my relatives are buried at Acton Cemetery:
Arthur Ernest William EVELEIGH - buried 08 Nov 1897
Ellen Rosina EVELEIGH - buried 23 Jan 1933
Ethel Winifred EVELEIGH - buried 09 Jan 1970
There are, however, no images of the register.

However, if you use the card index to search for"Cemetery registers", you can under "England and Scotland, Select Cemetery Registers" find the actual register for Acton Cemetery, which contains images of all burials at Acton. This document has nearly 1500 pages and whilst indexed is not organised in any way that I can make sense of.

If there is anybody here who understands this system, could they please locate for me the burial of Ellen Rosina EVELEIGH. I would really like a scan of her burial. All I need is a reference to the page number.

Hi ,
Very odd indeed!
Would it be that the burials are listed according to who was buried first ? Are your Eveleighs perhaps all in one grave? I found the data for 1897 (page 13) but as far as my tired eyes see, no entry for your Arthur. To be honest, be methodical and just go through maybe 50 entries a day and you'll find it. And with such exhilaration, just like the old days!

Go to image 13, note page number top right and date of first burial for last entry on the page.  Copy the url to notepad or similar.

Page forward to image 14 and repeat above, but noting date of first rather than last entry.

A number of pages have apparently escaped scanning but they may well be there, just out of order.

Compare the two urls - they will differ only slightly and it should be easy to work out the part of the link that identifies the page.  Edit to point at the missing pages, one by one, hopefully you'll find the page with the family group.  From the indexed ref, Arthur and Ellen are in the same plot, didn't check Ethel.

Jane :-)

Thank you familydar, that worked perfectly. Just changed 00026 to 00028 and there it was. Thanks to Greaves for asking. Ellen and Arthur are also on my tree.

Familydar: brilliant - simple but elegant. Many thanks.

Comberton - we are clearly related somewhere back in time, possibly through Robert Eveleigh and Jane May, who were my 3x GGP.

My route was through John Robert EVELEIGH, who married Georgina ROWE in 1853.

Slowly putting the family tree together, still remember the help you gave me with "Frank".

Do you have the first child of William Auton Eveleigh and first wife Hannah Laura Dines?
Mina Marian Eveleigh born 29th September 1865 at 18 St Catherine's Road, Kensington and died 23rd October 1865 aged 24 days at same address.
