On the newspaper report of a wedding in 1924 the bride is wearing a 'brown rep costume, with hat to match.'
Searching for rep costumes in the newspaper archives gives quite a few matches, and I will post from an advert (of 1925) to confirm the spelling. Looking on the internet gives lots of 'rep' as in 'holiday rep' hits.
Does anyone know what a rep costume was?
Thank-you

A costume is what is today called a suit.
I've no idea what rep means, in that context

There's a photo in the Daily Mirror of 19 March 1923, page 5, of two models, one in a rep coat, the other in a rep costume

Thanks for the picture, very useful.
However, why is that a rep costume/coat as distinct from a normal sort?

Thank-you for the fabric result. One lives and learns.
