Beatrice Miles was born 03/08/1887 in Kings Norton/ Her parents were Thomas and Laura Lavinia. Her siblings were Tom (1/7/1889) William (23/12/1891) Frederick Arthur (5/9/1893) Ernest 1899. I have satisfactorily traced siblings and parents.
In 1901 the whole family were at 35 Back of Edward Rd Balsall Heath.
On March 27th 1905 Beatrice married John Thomas Baker at the St Thomas in the Moors parish church. He was born in Bodicott Oxfordshire
In 1911 Beatrice & John were with his parents Edward & Charlotte at 29 Jakeman Walk Balsall Heath. There are no children present. The census indicates she has had 3 children 2 alive one dead.
Her parents and siblings were all at Wenman Street Balsall Heath. No other children present.
In 1907 in Kings Norton a Charlotte Amelia Baker, mother Miles, was born, she died in 1909 and seems likely to be the deceased child. The other 2 children not identified or found in 1911
By 1921 both her parents had died. (the strange circumstances surrounding the death of her father, Thomas Miles, are recorded in the Birmingham Mail July 2nd 1915.)
I thought I had located Beatrice in 1921 a a boarder at 164 Belgrave Rd Birmingham. There were 3 Baker children with her, Elizabeth May 16y 4m, John T 6y 5m, William A 1y 10 m. Beatrice is shown as a widow. John T Baker, mother Miles b Birmingham q1 1915. William A Baker, mother Miles, b Kings Norton q3 1919. Register dates tie in with census ages. I can find no birth for Elizabeth May but she may be one of the 2 living children mentioned on the 1911 census. The age on the 1921 census implies she was born Feb/ Mar 1905 and thus highly possible before her mother was married. I have therefore also searched under Miles but nothing found.
In 1939 Beatrice (dob matches) was in Birmingham with son William. She is widowed. Also present are 2 children born after 1921 (as potentially still living I give no details) with mother's name Miles. I have been unable to identify a death for John Thomas Baker.
Any help in clarifying all this and thus preventing the order of lots of certifaicates greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your replies. Thank you for finding the birth of Elizabeth in 1905 and I am happy that Charlotte is the deceased child from the 1911 census. Two questions remain from this period, where were the 2 living children in 1911 and what is the identity of Elizabeth's sibling.
Moving to 1921 I must apologise for not including the fact that I had located a Belinda Baker of the right age in an institution, possibly an orphanage, in Erdington Birmingham which ties in with your information. Her father is shown as dead. This fits with Beatrice (1887) being a widow, Still no trace of the unidentified missing child from 1911 census.
Thank you for finding the death of Beatrice Rose.
I have now established that the 2 children born after 1921 and found in the 1939 register are both deceased so here are their details; 8/3/1922 Dora M Baker, married name Barton, d 1981 Birmingham. 2/7/1925 Jessie Agnes H, married twice, 2nd to Staunton d 1988 Birmingham. Both births show mother as Miles. The question is if Beatrice was a widow in 1921 which Baker was the father if indeed a Baker was the father?

Hi, my own thoughts. The 2 missing "alive"children on 1911 census are Elizabeth May Baker(Miles) 1905 and Albert Edward Baker 1909. Going to look for them after this post. Re Dora and Jessie I believe them to be Beatrice's children but born after the death of John. I have this in my own tree where a mother has relationships with a n other but still records their births with married surname and mmn.

Thank you. I agree with your identification of the "missing" children. Have searched again in 1911 (on FindMyPast) but not found them. Re the 2 later children your thoughts are similar to mine. I may get one birth cert to see what it says.

I too have struggled to find Elizabeth May and Albert in 1911. If you do order a birth certificate please do let us know the outcome details.

May have found Elizabeth in 1911. Search census for Edward Charles Bastable and see his " adopted daughter"
John
added, if money allows Albert Edward Baker death in 1980 may give details of a wife/son/daughter, his occupation and address, allowing searches of electoral registers.

That Elizabeth Baker looks to be with the same family in 1921

Thanks Mabel, can eliminate her then

I have just received the birth cert of Jessie Agnes Baker. No father is shown. Her full christian names are Jessie Agnes Hughes. I wonder if the Hughes may be after the father? Regardless that would appear to be a dead end. Thanks for all your help.
