Can anyone identify this place near Burton-on-Trent? The man is currently living in Wiltshire but his Mother is next of kin.
Thanks

There is a village 6.5 miles from BoT - Wichnor/Wychnor. :-\

Thank-you - I had not looked that far out, and had not tried a search with a y.
(I also have found an address for him at Wetmore Road, to further muddy the waters.)

Looking at "Addresses" on FindMyPast, there is certainly a Wetmore Road in Burton on Trent - listed in 1881, 1901, 1911, 1921 and 1939. It must be where the breweries are - mention is made in 1881 of "Bass Buildings" and a lot of occupations are "Maltsters". ;D
ADDED: AND if you look on Google Maps you will see that it is a very long road.

Wychnor is nearer to Barton than Burton, but if he has just been given an address then that is what was recorded.
I can almost claim to be a maltster from Burton on Trent - I worked for a malting company, and lived just over the border in Derbyshire. :)

The first letter of the word certainly looks like a 'W' as it's the same as the first letter of Wilts (Wiltshire)
