Post by: galena on Tuesday 10 August 04 05:08 BST (UK)
Please could you look up
Roger Taylor in  1851 Census
In 1861 Census he was a 55 yr old farmer living on Treacle Row, Yate & Pickup Bank, Darwen. He was widowed in 1861 and I'm hoping to get his wife's name in 1851 plus the names of some children not listed.
Here is what the 1861 census had:
Superintendent Registrar’s District: Blackburn
Registrar’s Sub-District: Darwen
Enumeration District No. 17
Parish [or Township] of Yate & Pickupbank
Ecclesiastical District of St. James Church:
RG9/3111
Folio 52, p. 18
.No on Schedule: 89; Road, Street, &c.: 11 Treacle Row:
Roger Taylor, Head, Widr, 55, Farmer, b: Lancashire, Yate & Pickupbank
Deborah, Daur, Un, 23, Cotton Weaver, b: Lancashire, Yate & Pickupbank
Martha, Daur, Un, 18, Cotton Weaver, b: Lancashire, Yate & Pickupbank
Nancy, Daur, Un, 16, Cotton Weaver, b: Lancashire, Yate & Pickupbank

Thanks Glenn,
I know it can't be easy trying to decipher some of the entries. Thanks for all your efforts-you helped to answer some things we had been wondering about.

Hi,

I notice that another posting has an Andrew McNutt marrying a Deborah Taylor from the same area and a few years later. Probably the same Deborah. Somebody else was also asking about 'your' Roger.

Do a Rootschat search for 'Darwen' and you should find both of these postings. No relation to me as far as I yet know although 'my' known TAYLOR ancestors are literally just down the road.

Cheers,

Glenn

Hi Glenn
"Matty" & I are cousins who discovered each other through genealogy. So we are both working on this family from opposite sides of the Atlantic.
There are a lot of Taylors in this area-who knows~maybe we're 20th cousins! ;)
 Thanks again
