I was just posting with a fellow Rootschatter who might have rellies from Spain - just wondering if we could get a list of people who can translate languages on a board somewhere? Arranroots pointed out that there are probably quite a few of us who might help with language thingies... just an idea..?
Ger :)
PS I can do a bit of Spanish - if anyone needs it, just ask! :)

Hi Ger,
What a good idea :) :)
It's so good that I have modified your title and taken off the question mark !
As of now:
This is a list of RootsChatters who are willing to do, or help out with translations
To make it easier to spot, please put your language skill(s) in bold.
I'll add myself here straight away:
I can read, write and talk german and am prepared to help out. This help may be a bit slow sometimes, as I usually have a lot of other things to do, but please feel free to ask.

As I can't help out a great deal with look-ups (living inGermany), I'm happy to help with German. I'm an official translator and interpretor for German, sworn in by the state court of Baden-Württemberg.
And of course, the language of heaven: Welsh.

Great idea there Ger. For those in a hurry or with language not mentioned, this site might be helpful.

It can be "quirky" but not bad.

Hi there, I am available for Spanish translations.

The famous GOOGLE does translations but beware they are often wide of the mark. However they are very often amusing. Computer translating has along way to go before it puts the human one out of business.

Re German dictionary. Somebody - a while ago now - told me of a standard German Dictionary rather akin to the English standard "Oxford" Dictionary. I now cannot recall the name of the German dictionary, and whether or not is freely available on line. Perhaps you might know of it?
