Title: Challinor Family, Shocklach/Shocklack, Cheshire
Post by: Lloydy on Tuesday 10 August 04 21:17 BST (UK)
My GG Grandfather Richard Challinor was born 21 March 1830 in Shocklack/Shocklach, Cheshire, son of a James Challinor/Challenor and Unknown mother.

Richard was married firstly to an Emma Hughes, then secondly to my GG Grandmother Jane Trow of Mochdre, Montgomeryshire.

I am trying to now "work backwards" and find out further information for Richard's parents and any other siblings that he may have had.

Would someone please be kind enough to point me in a few right directions  ;D - any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Jan
The reg districts of the Shocklach have changed many times. If you are looking prior to 1837 then I believe Wrexham and its record office would be the place to search. The church would be St. Ediths at Shocklach, and its records are at the Cheshire RO. This link may explain things a little better.

The only record I have of a Challinor marriage at St Ediths is in

1831 James Challinor marrying a Mary Challinor.

hope this helps
