Rootschatters in the Merseyside area able to tune into Radio Merseyside today (sometime around 1.30pm I'm told) should be able to hear an interview about Rootschat and the monthly Challenge ... and I didn't mention my own website once! :))
cheers
Paul

;D ;D ;D
Will keep the radio tuned in to 95.8FM around that time Paul - hope it's not on when Tesco are delivering my Groceries - it'll just be my luck.
:P :P
-
And of course if you have Real Player, you can listen live on the web. I'm tuned in :)
-
;D ;D
Oh I agree Heather - but wouldn't you know it, my speakers are kaputt at the moment.

Radio Merseyside website.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/england/radiomerseyside/
Shows their wavelengths and how to listen to programming over the internet.

Thanks for that tip, kmo - now my mum in Durham can listen on her digital TV system (never thought of that!)

Boo hoo missed it !! When I swtiched to that waveband all I could get was GMR (Greater Manchester Radio) - **** >:( >:(
-
Hmmm - you'd have to think I was a scouser myself given all the 'er's' I managed to drop in!
:)
-
Down here in rural South Wales listening to Merseyside Radio and what do I get...welsh sheep farming!
Nice one Paul. Wonderful to hear about Censuswhacking on the radio.
Debbie ;D
-
Paul ,couldnt get to hear it myself. Did you record it? Maybe you could post an mp3 of the recording on your website so we can all hear it?
-
Afraid not, gazza - listening to it once was enough! :)
Paul
-
Luffly bit of plugging Paul ...though we expect no less from the master :D
Well done!
-
Paul - my hero!!
If you missed it (as I did) you can follow kmo's link on the previous page. Click on listen live, select the Roger Philip's show and fast forward through to about 2 hours 10 minutes - presto!!
Hope that works for you

Ooh...can't wait...got to do shopping, sort out tea, see to family :P :P
Stupid work :(
Will post again once (and if) I have managed to listen to it. Thanks for the tip Arranroots ;D ;D
-
Yes - I'm particularly proud over stumbling, for about two minutes, over my description of Sarah and Trystan as an er ... er... er... 'Welsh couple'!!!! ::) Trust they'll forgive the hesitation!
cheers :)
Paul
PS
I also managed to call Andy Ball 'Alan' a couple of times before we began recording. That must have endeared me to him immensely! (Memories of old chewing gum cards were obviously playing in my mind!). For the record, he's a very amiable chap and seemed genuinely interested in Family History.
-
Thanks for the tip Arranroots! Was at work and saw that you were on the radio Paul, and really wanted to listen to it, so was really chuffed when I got home and saw the link! ;D
It was great to hear you speaking about the monthly challenges and censuswhacking and of course to hear Rootschat mentioned a few times! lets hope we get more recruits now!
;D ;D

Nice one Paul.
Don't suppose the infamous Claude ever thought he'd get a mention on Merseyside Radio 2005!

I was really made up to hear about your site on R. Merseyside today.
I'd never heard of rootschat before.
I'd only been logged on for 30mins before I found an amazing amount of information re my family name - Gynane.
Only trouble is, how do I tear myself away from the monitor to do things like
eat?!!

Hi Conifer,
A very warm welcome to RootsChat.
Didn't Paul say in his interview, that RootsChatters give up on silly things like eating, sleeping, ironing shirts, cleaning, etc etc .... you know, all those boring things that other people do .... so they have more time to be on RootsChat ??
Ooops, he missed that bit ;D
Enjoy !
Bob
-
Now, Bob ... Benson & Hedges would never have got anywhere in their early days if they'd have had to tell the truth about the addictive nature of their product! :)
Conifer, you take no notice of Bob. He just needed an excuse for not ironing and cooking, and he found it here on Rootschat! ;) Hope you enjoy your new addiction!

Website? ??? ???
Which website would that be, Annie? ;)
Never realised Radio Merseyside had such an international following!
Reminds me of the 'International Festival of Art' I once visited at New Brighton. A couple of pavement artists from Wales and a guy from Rock Ferry seemed to be the sum total of artistic contributions. :)
Paul
-
Well that should get the numbers up quite a bit Paul, well done, a smashing interview, and I lurve yer scouse accent der lah!
Mary
-
A you Paul!!!
You must have picked a bad day to visit New Brighton. You should know that there's plenty of talent around Merseyside.
And, yes Andy (Alan to you) Ball is a lovely feller - if it hadn't been for his programme you were featured on this week I wouldn't have ever known about rootschat. I could at this moment be eating, showering, ironing, having a face pack(!), instead I'm stuck here again. Sod it, I've got a glass of wine and my cigs -I'll stay here a bit longer!!!!! Great site.
-
Ironing !!!!! Wash your mouth out with soap and water !!!!
Haven't you seen this thread ??

Spot-on cartoon.
I fried my BIOS Friday night, and am now using another computer to catch up. But, between the BIOS accident and now, I've:
mown the lawn,
hoovered the cobwebs in the cellar (you think I'm joking don't you),
taken the bust BIOS pc in for repair,
gone to a party,
ferried my daughter here there and everywhere,
done the shopping
....
Any normal weekend would have been just the last two of these and, if lucky, one other from the preceeding list.

Well done, Paul, belatedly. Just listened - you can still find it on the Radio Merseyside site - although it says it's the Thursday 15 September edition of the Roger Phillips show, not Friday.
Starting time is 2 hours 14 minutes 25 seconds (give or take a couple of seconds).
They said Video killed the radio star, but clearly not in this case!
