Title: Looking for the NAME Burrough
Post by: StintonLomas on Tuesday 27 September 05 16:20 BST (UK)
Hi
I am looking for a Jane Borrough C1834 from Honiton, according to the 1871 census, who married a John Stinton C1814 from Worcester.

The name Borrough is from their son's, my GFather,  Birth Cert.

Have been unable so far to find marriage record or their death records.

Hi StintonLomas
Welcome to Rootschat  ;D. In 1841 there are no Jane Borroughs or variations in Honiton. This family in Clyst Hydon (about 8 miles west of Honiton) is  a possibility. You really need that elusive marriage certificate to get her father's name. Hope you sort this one out.
Cheers Jan ;)

Hi Jan
Thanks for that, I will have a go for the '51 census now to see if there is anymore info and I can try Clyst Hydon as a marriage district or should I look for somewhere bigger? Cullompton perhaps?

Hi Jericho
Yours seems to be the same family as Jan's but with a changed trade
My GGFather was in the horse dealing/ fellmongering and skinning trades at various times so perhaps a farming family connection could be possible

Hi
The registration district for Clyst Hydon was St Thomas, see

http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/dev.htm

Interesting change of occupation there - although I have someone who goes baker, innkeeper, dairyman, farmer.

Cheers Jan ;)
