Just to say I have looked on IGI site for marriage
of John Paul to Louisa Webber (widow)
also FreeBMD,
dates from 1883 onwards.
I wouldn't like to waste anyones time.
Would still appreciate some help on this one please.
Many thanks.

Hi Bennett,
Do you have a marriage for Louisa? I've found a Louisa STRONG living at Watchet in the 1871 census, she's the only one of 19 Louisas in Watchet who is born around the right time. Might be worth looking for STRONG and WEBBER marriage.

...also, you'll need to check the full BMD indexes for the marriage/s - as you probably know the IGI and FreeBMD are incomplete. You can do a pay-per-view search at www.1837online.com if you're not near an LDS family history centre, or library with microfiche versions of the indexes.
Cheers

Hi Prue,
Thanks for reply,
yes Louisa in Watchet is the one I am looking for.
She was Louisa STRONG m William WEBBER,
she then became a widow in 1883.
However I know she then went on to be living in PLYMOUTH,DEVON,
on the 1901 census, she is then known to be LOUISA PAUL,living with
JOHN PAUL, and 4 children all with the surname PAUL,
plus her 2 of her children, surname WEBBER.
I am trying to find a marriage between her and John.
Hope Im making sense here.
regards

Hi Bennett,
Yes, you're making sense! ;D
I think it would be best to look in the BMD indexes either online or in person. That way you will find the second marriage.
I've looked in 1891 but I can't seem to find a match for Louisa under either surname. Could be mistranscribed, though.

Hi Prue,
Thanks again for reply,
got a feeling about this one!!!!!!!
My grandmother Elizabeth who was born in 1883,to Louisa,
never mentioned she had half brothers/sisters,only ever spoke about her mother, perhaps they were John Paul's children, and not Louisa's.
But that could be another story.
Seems as if I might have to actually go to records office,or pay to view.
I will post on here if I get any info.
Thanks for your help anyway.
regards
Bennett

If the last post has been made as you are still looking for the marriage (some 14 years later) the simple answer is there wasn't one. They appear to have been together from 1884/1885 but there was no legal union between them I'm afraid.

For the Notes pile . . . . .
There would seem to be 3x other Elizabeth Ann WEBBER born 1883-6 in Williton
In census 1891 Wootton Courtney, Williton RG12 / 1864 / 57 / page 11
living with George Ferris and Mary Ann (Howe) is
Elizabeth A WEBER (5y) born Williton (Boarder&Scholar)
No siblings, parents. Is that why she never "spoke about siblings"?

You are correct Ray;
WEBBER, ELIZABETH ANN, mmn STRONG
GRO Reference: 1883 M Quarter in WILLITON Volume 05C Page 306
-
;D
BUT,
She could be one of these
WEBBER, ELIZABETH ANN NORMAN
GRO Reference: 1885 M Quarter in WILLITON Volume 05C Page 308
WEBBER, ELIZABETH ANN -
GRO Reference: 1885 J Quarter in WILLITON Volume 05C Page 291
WEBBER, ELIZABETH ANN POPE
GRO Reference: 1886 S Quarter in WILLITON Volume 05C Page 303

In 1891 Louisa and 'John' are together in Plymouth - the whole family listed as Paul. Louisa's daughter Elizabeth is with them - I believe Trish's posting of her birth is the correct one.
The 1891 census also shows daughter Lavinia 14 with them - however, she seems to have been listed twice as Louisa's older children are living with an aunt/uncle in Minehead, William, Lavinia and Louisa. In 1901 William and Louisa still with aunt/uncle in Minehead.
John Paul is Arthur John Paul in 1891 and 1911 but believe his birth was as John Arthur Paul in Sept.1858 Camelford (illegitimate). Just to add to the confusion, the births of the children with John Paul: John Arthur registered Arthur John Mar.1886 Plymouth - mmn Webber (?), Mabel Jun.1887 Plymouth - mmn Webber, Ann (as 1891 census) is Mary Ann Sept.1888 Plymouth - mmn Strong, George Ellard Dec.1890 Plymouth - mmn Strong, died Sept.1891, George Dec.1892 Plymouth - mmn Strong and Beatrice Maud Dec.1896 Plymouth - mmn Strong. So, the first 2 Paul children show Louisa's married surname as her maiden name rather than Strong!
