Hi
I am looking for any researcher that may have BEARDs from Gloucestershire in their families. I am collating all the Beards from Gloucestershire that includes areas like St Briavels. I will exchange information if I have it on file, with the view of filling in some blank spaces, or connecting with what I have "floating" about

At the moment I am researching for a second cousin her late husbands family the Beard family from Kings Stanley .
Her mother in law was Ellen Beard who married Frank Baker in 1908 in Selsey.Ellens father was Charles or sometimes he used his second name of Albert, Ellen had 3 sisters Kate ,Lucy and Lily .
Ellens mother was Kate but she died young and Charles/Albert married Emma think it was Dee

my gg grandmother was Annie Beard
Her family I believe were from the Stroud area. I have a 1841 census that seems to add up to be the family. Annie was born in Australia but her parents and older siblings were from the Gloucestershire area. I believe this is the family. I know her father was Alfred but her mother was Ann(possibly) if this is the right census then it was possibly Alice I cant find a marriage record but BMD has a the daughter emily born around the right year registered in Stroud.
here is the details
Alfred Beard born around 1830 found in the 1841 census living with his family and parents Edwin and Mary Beard in Minchinhampton
In the 1851 census he is married to an Alice and has one daughter Emily 1 By the next census he was in Australia.
Does this line belong to your family hopefully we can swap notes

I have Ann Cambridge Beard bpt. 06.10.1895 @ Longhope. She was the daughter of Charles Beard and Martha Cambridge. Charles was the son of Thomas Beard & Elizabeth. All this info is from the IGI - I haven't had the opportunity to verify any of it yet.

I have a George Beard born 1837 Leonard Stanley who married Sarah Sophia Daniels 5 Dec 1863 Leonard Stanley. I have extensive notes on them and two of their four children.

Hi I'm also researching the beards from St briavels. Edward Beard 1840-1885 / Ellen Beard (Bristol) fm Williams - 1848-1906.
Edwards Parents William Beard 1810-1894 and possible mother Mary (18051868?) . I have more information beyond this but unconfirmed at this moment but also looking for other secondary resources. Is this the same line as your researching

Wow seems a long time since I posted on this post
I have now discovered my Beard line came from Framilode in Gloucestershire with a detour around Monmouth and Cooksley

I have a great grandfather, James Beard, who was born in Longhope Glos. In 1861. He was the eighth child of Phillip and Ann.
On leaving Longhope he changed his name to Maurice and became a grocer in Fulham, marrying Alice Bowyer from Winkfield.
I have only briefly researched him in censuses plus a little help from the Longhope village website - which has the baptisms of his seven older siblings but not for him or his younger sister.
Phillip was the son of Robert and Nancy (for some of the children the baptisms say Ann, which is confusing).
Robert’s eldest was Richard Dobbs Beard, so perhaps Robert married a Dobbs. However there are children of Robert, Richard Dobbs, and Phillip who all have a second name of Bentley, so I would be very interested if you or someone else could tell me where this connection lies.

I have a number of BEARDS in my family tree all from around the Ross-on-Wye Forest of Dean areas.
Alice Mary BEARD b.30 may 1866, Newent, m 1910. d. 6 Sept 1970, Gorsley Ross-on-Wye. She married James TAYLOR.
Alices father was William BEARD.

iii. CLARA ELIZA BEARD. She was born Abt. Jun 1869 in Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire, England. Residence on 02 Apr 1871 in The Street, Gloucestershire, England. Occupation on 03 Apr 1881 in a 12 year old house servant. She married Edward Edmund Powell. Their marriage Abt. Dec 1890 in Stroud, Gloucestershire, England (Leonard Stanley). Also Known As was Eliza.

I am descended from Thomas Beard and Rebecca Vick of Woodchester their grandson Nathaniel (son of Nathaniel Beard and Rrbecca Cordwell) was transported to Tasmania in 1833 he was my great grandfather. I noticed MicheleD was descended from his brother Edwin I would like to contact her annd tell her Alfred had two wives Alice and Ann only one of them had children and I think it was Ann. I have a lot of info on my g grandfather's descendants which I would share.

Joseph Beard, born 28 DEC 1801 in Newnham, Gloucestershire, married to Mary. They had one son, Joseph Beard, born 20 DEC 1829 in Tetbury, Gloucester, Death March 1892 in Windsor, Berkshire, and possibly a second son George born around 1838.
I am looking for more information about this family, in particular a marriage certificate for Joseph Beard and Mary. And a possible death certificate for Mary Beard. Her husband Joseph remarried in Reading, Berkshire in 1841, so I presume she had died sometime before then.

I'm sure that you once replied to a question of mine some years agonow, but wondered whether you might have any information on the Beard family relating to my part of the family? My great grandfather was Thomas J Beard born in 1836 and married Sarah Ann Semark in 1857, then remarried in 1868 to Sarah Ann Boorman. I believe he was a millwright and lived in Faversham for a good while before moving back to Gloucestershire.
My grandmother was Sarah Ann, named after her mother and married Alexander Ross Henderson in 1901.
I would be very grateful to see any other family members - I appreciate you have many people corresponding with you and that you are still working away on finding out more information on the Beards, so are very busy - so if and when you get time it would be great to hear from you.

Walter Nathaniel Beard, Sept 1907,Stroud 6a 824. to either Eliza Ann Ford or May Rosina Wheatley.
A marriage certificate would confirm this.

The marriages have been indexed, looks like Walter Beard married Eliza A. Ford.
Births for the date you need haven't been indexed as yet, however, FreeBMD has the birth of Doris Louisa Beard December qtr. 1907, Stroud, 6a/343.
Sending for the birth certificate of Doris will confirm her mother's maiden name and hence that the marriage above is the correct one. Certificates can be purchased from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

I thought that I had previoulsy become involved in this thread but having checked it appears not.
My Beard ancestors moved to Lydney as tinworkers in the 1830s having previously been agricultural workers in Framilode. My Beards remained in Lydney until the 1940s. The younger ancestors moved to Wales in the 1920s and Cheltenham in the 1900s, one the Wales Beards emigrated to Canada after the 2nd world war. I am not aware of any living Beards within my tree, the male line having ceased.
I think I have everything wrapped up in terms of names but would be delighted to be suprised by any additions. Having found the names, I am now trying to delve into people's lives although inevitably this is proving not that easy but nil deperandum.

Am starting some family history on my wifes side. She is descended from William BEARD and Mary Ann COLEMAN who came to New Zealand. Jane who was born in NZ married a John MCKINNA and their daughter Jane Gordon married a Thomas McMAHON my wife was a McMAHON
