Thank you for passing on the link to a very interesting site. I did have a look at it some time ago. As far as I have got in research I have not found any Shaws in my tree but do have Grants and McGregors.
I love the Tomintoul area and spent a lot of time there as child.

Hello distant cousin! Isabella’s name was indeed McIntosh. I have some information on her, if you are interested I will dig it out.

Just for your interest, in my lifetime the  Glack in the Braes of Glenlivet was a more or less a "sheep house " but was rebuilt as a holiday house several years ago. I think it is still inhabited and is at the base of the Bochel hill. If this is where your Frasers lived, they might have been on RC baptism records etc for Chapelton , the Braes of Glenlivet or even Tombae on the other side of the Bochel.

Many thanks Valeriec,

I followed your advice and found the NOFU member on a ship's passenger list returning to Canada.

Result! Thank you very much for your excellent suggestions.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I was aware  of these sites and I have now tried to contact them but links seem to be out of date. Not sure where to go from here.

Thank you again.

Can anyone suggest a way to find out when a member of NOFU returned home from Scotland to Newfoundland after World War 2 ?

Thank you.

Lanarkshire / Re: Govan 1881 Census...Help!

Many thanks for help given. I had not even noticed LDS 1881 census on SP. I have now found them there.

Both John and Grace have years taken off their ages, but other than that everything ties up. Maybe one of the lodgers answered the census questions?!

Thank you!

Lanarkshire / Govan 1881 Census...Help!
« on: Friday 11 February 11 15:37 GMT (UK)  »
I have been researching  this couple, John Christie (joiner) and Grace Stuart. They married in Govan in 1874 and Ancestry has Grace Christie, age 29, born Tomintoul , living at 47 Helen Street, Govan in 1881. This seems correct but why can't I find this family on the Scotlands People, 1881 census?

I am going round in circles ...can anyone help?
