Wiltshire / Re: MERRITT/MERRETT Family All Cannings, Wilts
« on: Tuesday 10 November 20 16:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Karla

The family of Merrett that I have bo not match the ones you have mentioned.  This has taken me back to 2009 and it can be very confusing with Wiltshire families of Merret/Merritt and Nash/Naish. Some people have managed to join two families together.

If you think I can help just send me a specific question.

Take care
Robert...

You have to remember this was a medical measure and the doctor would write up using the Apothecaries' measure. From Dictionary.com we have. "In Great Britain 20 minims = 1 fluid scruple; 3 fluid scruples = 1 fluid dram; 8 fluid drams = 1 fluid ounce; 20 fluid ounces = 1 pint; 8 pints = 1 imperial gallon (277.42 cubic inches)." Carefull you are not overdosing him.:-)

The Common Room / Re: Florence Bruce -Mezzo Soprano

I must thank you all for doing so well. The performance in Yorkshire where it actually lists Florence Bruce -Mezzo-Soprano looks very promising. The record label the "Bel Canto" record label was short-lived. From my understanding, Florence does not appear on any other recordings.

I follow some classic 78 recordings on the "OldiesAl" channel on youtube.  The latest is a treasure that has defied any research. Looking for any information on Florence Bruce, Mezzo-Soprano. She is singing Loch Lomond "https://youtu.be/bOo1UmOCo3g" from a 1911 recording.
Sometimes you have to broader a search, hence asking here. Any help appreciated.

Thanks...

Hi there,

Just stumbled across this post whilst looking for the Nash family from wiltshire. Not sure if by now you have found out but Vashti and Christiana are names associated  with Romany Gypsy families in and around the West Country. I have both names in my tree several times over. If you haven't already, make contact with the Romany and Traveller Family History Society. They have a magasine Romany Routes which may lead you to more family members

Best wishes
Hi Ellalaine

This is a real surprise and I must thank you. This is a line I have not followed. What I have always found puzzling is that she is the only one in that family who do not show up in Etchilhampton baptism records. I am in a hiatus in my research at the moment but I will pass this on to my cousin who is more active. The other name which has come up without any records is "Ember". I will have to get active again I can see. Sounds very exciting if we do have some Romany connections. I have not had any DNA done but I am wondering if this would help.

Kinf Regards, Robert...

No problem. 8-10 lines is usually a good size to aim at.
Thanks

I think I have things sorted out now. Is it possible for some kind person to finish this off for me?

Here is the link to page 2. https://photos.app.goo.gl/sawSpdBkWfqF1y3n8

Well I would have, but this link shows a blank page on my computer! - it will be because my computer is now VERY old!
For future reference, it's always better to post an actual image of the document of whatever you want deciphered straight onto your post here on Rootschat, rather than a link to somewhere else, by using the 'attachments' button at the bottom of every 'post' page.

Several reasons:
Sometimes links don't work.
As horselydown says, if it is accessed through a pay to view site, then the other person is using up their subscription (which may be limited).
Accessing another page also uses up more data (not everywhere in the world has unlimited cheap data access).

It's just easier all ways round for the people you are hoping will help you!  :)
Thanks for that. The reason I gave the link is that if is well over the very small 300k permitted by Rootschat. If I reduce the size of the document to fit upload limits the definition will be so poor it will be unreadable. It is also heavy compressed by Ancestry.
Thanks...
