Hi Les
I will drop you an email over the weekend and yes I am still working on tracing the family tree :) What is weird is that I play guitar and also do singing/songwriting with a mate of mine and last week I started to pen a new song titled "Selby Lamb" tracking the movement from Yetholm to Sunderland and then my Grandfathers move to St.Helens were I was born and live. that is spooky :)

Cheers
Steve

Hi Oz; great to hear from you :) I will get back to you with more details, as I am off to Spain for a week tomorrow. My line is that Lamb was my mothers maiden name born in St.Helens; her father (my Grandfather) was Matthew Lamb born in Sunderland 1901; his father was also Matthew Lamb (my Great Grandfather) born Sunderland 1877; his father was Robert Lamb (my Great Great Grandfather) born Sunderland 1846 and his father was Selby Lamb (my Great, Great, Great Grandfather) born Roxburgh 1796.

Selby Lamb married Jane Burn in her native Monkwearmouth (Sunderland) in July 1821 and that is where my Lamb family line moves from Scotland and into Sunderland; my own Grandfather came down from Sunderland to St.Helens after the first World War looking for work.

Just getting my head around this Oz; your Great Grandfather John Lamb born 1878 and my Great Grandfather Matthew Lamb born 1877 were brothers :)

I will post more in a week or so but it would be great to share the research on our Lamb line. :)

Cheers
Steve

Thank you so much for your response. This gives me another lead when I thought I had hit the brick wall :)
Could you tell me if the old Parish Registers are available online and how I could access them.
Once again thank you for taking time to help me; much appreciated.

Thanks for the PM Pollynation. I will reply via PM but as I am new on here it seems that I have to post 3 times before I can use the PM facility so please bear with me. Could I ask if you have been in contact with anyone else from the Pownalls side, as I know my cousin Susan did some years ago attempt to peice together the family Tree and got stuck at the John Pownall and Mary Jane Pownall branch.

Pollynation
I have just joined the site, as I am researching my family tree with our surname Pownall, we are based in St.Helens and I have so far tracked down my Great Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandmother as John Pownall and Mary Jane Pownall. I sent off for the birth certificate of their only son George Arthur Pownall(my Great Grandfather) and it has arrived today :) He was born on 7/10/1873 at 6 Hood Street, Old Accrington; John Pownall was the father and Mary Jane Pownall late Kynaston formerly Atkinson was the mother.

So it seems that we share Mary Jane as our Great Great Grandmother.  Not sure how the PM works on here, but I probably have a good deal of information on the Pownall side which I could share, equally I would appreciate any info you may have also.

This has been a surprise finding your information on here! PS who is the photograph of?
