Other than height, complexion, hair color, eye color (immigration took down all that, I guess) I have an address for James Barr of 69 Richmond Street in Airdrie.  But the match in Aberdeen seems really close, and my distant relative who gathered this information had the Barrs in Airdrie and the McDonalds in Aberdeen -- so I wonder if they got mixed up?  The address she had for the McDonalds in Aberdeen was 87 Union Grove.  I wonder if that was really the Barr family's address?

There was no information on James' wife's name, and a call to my dad just now didn't help.  Hopefully someone knows!  Thanks again, I really appreciate your help!

Greetings from the Atlanta, Georgia, USA area.  A relative of my dad's recently completed a genealogy project for her family, which gave me some basic information about my Scottish ancestors.  I thought I would post here and see if anybody is familiar with them, or has suggestions for next steps.  My g-grandparents both emigrated to Vermont in 1910.

My g-g-grandfather was James Barr of Airdrie.  My g-grandfather, Charles G. Barr, b. about 1888, lived with him until he was 22, when he left for America.  He told the immigration people here he was a granite cutter.  He settled in Barre, Vermont, a very smart place for a granite cutter to end up in the early 20th c.

My other g-g-grandfather was John McDonald of Aberdeen.  His daughter Susan, b. 1887 in Elgin, followed Charles to America and Barre three months later.

At this point I don't have any birth or death dates for James or John, no information on their wives or other sons or daughters.  Not a lot to go on, I know.  As I say, just posting to see if anybody recognizes the names/families and can send me off in another direction.  Thanks!
