Re my response on Kelso graves. My apologies as I inadvertantly have misled you. The grave listing I was given apparently referred only to an older graveyard in the town and NOT to Rosebank. So please disregard what I said; if I get the correctly labelled list I will send a correction. I hope this error did not send you off in a wrong directon. Apologies again!!

Only one Gow grave in Kelso Rosebank cemetary , but no Margaret. No graves with the name Ure. She may well have died in Kelso but perhaps cremated and the remains taken elsewhere. Nearest crematoria are in Edinburgh. Perhaps one there may have a record or even an interment.

Thank you Goeff-E ;a useful site for reg dating! I had hoped  for an earlier dating; is there any way of pinning the issue date more precisely ? Any way thanks for responding so swiftly.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / old vehicle registration number
« on: Friday 05 March 10 23:08 GMT (UK)  »
Not sure if this is the correct place for this query but if not someone will doubtless rap my knuckles. I found in an old photo album of my late parents a picture of a young girl ( who I think may be my mother, b 1905 )standing beside a vehicle with reg plate S 4267. Can anyone tell me when this Scottish number was issued?  As this will be a marker for the girl's age.   Souter

the Canadian national archives in ottawa  hold much of the immigration data. go to www.collectionsanada.ca/genealogy and follow the links for immigration. all you need are names and approx. date and that should bring up the answer.
