Certainly was a sad period.

The record I am looking for is:

Children’s Act, 1908. 8 Edw. 7. Ch. 67
Order of detention in a certified industrial School.

Hi
An episode of ‘Who Do You Think You are’  on Boy George.
His grandmother was picked up on the streets and via a court order, was sent to an orphanage.
Boy George’s mother had a copy of the court order and spoke as if it was the first time she had seen it.
I tried 20 years ago to find a copy of a court order for Dad but without success, so when I saw that program I got excited.
Many thanks for replying.

Thanks Rathmore.
That record is for my grandparents. I have the marriage certificate.
I was hoping someone would know how I could access the records for the ‘National Society of Protection for Cruelty to Children’.

I have tried the National archives and the Dublin Library but the former said they cannot help and the library didn’t reply.

Would appreciate if someone could tell me where the records would be kept.

Many thanks, appreciate your help.

He was the son of Peter Moore and Mary Becton.
Peter died in Liverpool in 1932.
Thanks

Hi Sinann.
Wow that was prompt, thank you.

I have printed the forms and will send them off and find out what I can.
Several years ago I tried to find Carriglea records, even spoke to one of the Brothers who had worked there. I was told then that the records were not available for the 1912 period as no one new where they had gone.

Many thanks....here’s hoping.
Regards Seymor

Re Thomas Moore born Dublin 1902
George Patrick Moore born Dublin 1904.

My father, Thomas and his brother lost their Mum and 4 sisters to TB over several years up until 1912.
Due to a serious bout of pneumonia their father was in hospital.

Reported by a teacher for being alone, they were picked up in the street by authorities.
The courts sent them to the trade school Carriglea. I have tried for many years to find the appropriate records but without success.
Recently I saw on ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ and heard of the NSPCC.
I was hoping someone on this site would be able to tell me how I could access these records.
I have written to places but I get no response.
Many thanks

Ireland / Moore: Patrick and Catherine (Kate)

Hi everyone.

Looking for a family that moved to Belfast c1890. Patrick Moore was a blacksmith but I believe worked on the docks in Belfast.

I have no information about them once they left the Drogheda area.

Would anyone be able to help me, please!

One of the sons was killed in a workplace accident on the docks but that is all the details I have.

Where would a Roman Catholic worker from the docks area be buried. Any ideas?

Sorry the facts are few but that is all I have been able to find.

Many thanks
