Does anyone have information on the family of the above, divorced and living/working in Weston-super-Mare in the 1939 Census.  There was  Hiram Simpson resident with him (brother? father?)
and one other (now deceased)?   We believe that Hiram is a Jewish given name, but as Jewishness
descends only through the female line (changing in each generation) an ancestral search could be
more difficult.   I am enquiring re this family on behalf of my cousin in Coventry.

Without any dates and events, CMB, I am unable to say how we are connected if at all.
I have found no Peake family in my ancestry.   Can you give more information?   Was this William born in Grantham, was he educated at the King's school, did he become Postmaster
for Spalding?   This William was my great-uncle = Ethel Topham.  He was born 21 April 1896.

Hello Pat (PK2)
Yes, there are Parish Records, and I started with RC (all Dublin) but, to my surprise found my Brooks family were originally Church of Ireland.  I could not find the baptism of my direct ancestor, but did find his siblings with the right parents, so he married Mary Ann Flood (RC) who died in Coventry, and I am descended through the second marriage, my gt-grandfather married at Coventry St Michael(later the Cathedral) and this was C of E.  So the RC line finished by my grandfather who was baptised in the C of E.  He always said he was sent to an RC school but ran away from it!  Best Regards
Graham

My Grandmother, born in Grantham 1888, was Mary Elizabeth Morley.  Her father David Morley, a bootmaker, born Long Bennington.  His father and grandfather both Isaac Morley farmer, ag/lab.  They trace back to Keyworth,, Notts, Orston = Ann Bugg, with a marriage in the late 1600s = Mary Winfield, Willoughby-on-the Wolds.   Maybe we link at some stage.

Just picking this topic back up and have only just seen the 2013 post.   Can't move this on any further at present but interested in making contact with anyone out there still researching this!

There is a PCC Will for the Mayor of course.   I have a copy but have not looked at it for some long time now.   Have you perhaps picked up descendants [the opposite route of true Family History but sometimes useful if the Christian name pattern continues down as it does sometimes.]Let me know what you think Peter.   It is so strange that I have near ancestors marrying in Berkeswell but no known connection with the Berkeswell Whiteheads and Nailcote Hall.
Happy Hunting
