Hi Tomhutton, thanks for your interest , this was a post back in 2013 and though I have more information about Simon and Mary Fraser's family I never got further back, as you say the Fraser name is very common in the area and you really need a lot of luck to get further back., I live in hope. Simon and Mary had a daughter also called Mary who married David Rose master gardener at Farraline. many thanks and keep safe Nikitah

Hi, don't give up, also don't take other peoples trees as gospel, it can and most probably will take years of research, for Scotland, you can search scotlandspeople. going by what others have found and a search of scotlandspeople, you will see that , the Father of Andrew was James Samuel, James was born Muiravonside, 24/5/1840, his parents are John  Samuel and Janet Taylor, John Samuel married Janet Taylor 31/8/ 1838 @ Muiravonside,  as well as Andrew I found ----- Mary  24/4 /1842 Muiravonsde, ------- Margaret ( 3rd child) 29/ 9/ [email protected] Abercorn,----------Janet 16/4/1848 @ Cramond,--------Eliza 3/ 7/ 1853 @ Currie. I hope you are now on the right track, you will need to purchase the certificates to verify all the above. By the way you seem to heading for my Samuels, all mine can be found in Dalmeny, Kirkliston, Cramond, Currie,  my branch is from Hugh Samuel 2/ 4 1812 Dalmeny, father Walter Samuel and Marion /Marie Phillips, happy hunting. Nikitah.

Hi Suzy, I found a baptism for a George Mowat, on S P, at Canisbay 15/09/ 1748 father Peter Mowat  mother Helen C, as George and Catharine had a son in  1780 and named him Peter I wonder if this could be your George. I then found a marriage for Peter Mowat and Helin Cogil at Canisbay -/ 01/ 1748. . there is a marriage for George Mouat in 1786 at Canisbay but his bride is Euphemia Miller, both abodes Brabster.  Nikitah
