Wow! So that explains it. He must be close to 14 in that photograph too. Thank you so much for your help. It's very much appreciated.

Thank you. His name was Herbert Elliott Keough and he was indeed a gunner in the Royal Artillery. I do have lots of info on him but I couldn't work out his age from this photograph. He was born 1874 and he looks so very young in this picture I thought the uniform could be something else. I also have found a hand written diary from 1st January 1900 until 1901. It makes for interesting reading although some of it is illegible. Also newspaper articles from 1899 mentioning the KEOUGH brothers. All based in Birmingham and his father was head warder at Winson Green Prison. Interesting family!

Hi there. I'm hoping someone can shed a light onto a photograph I've found amongst my hubby's inherited documents! His Great Grandfather (I believe) who was born 1874 is in the centre of this photograph but looks like a young boy. I've tried to identify the uniform but have had no luck. He eventually joined the police so I was wondering if this was anything to do with that? I'd be very grateful for any help! The back of the photograph is interesting too......W Hewitt Wilton Photographer Southchurch. By appointment H.H Price Ibrahim and H.I.H The Late Prince Imperial (not sure if that helps) Many thanks in advance

Dublin / Edward Keough and Sarah Wassell
« on: Tuesday 14 June 05 11:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone help with a marriage between Edward Keough and Sarah Hannah Wassell in Ireland around 1850's?
According to Census info Edward was born in Dublin in 1826 but Sarah Wassell was born in Woolwich Kent in 1834. However I am unable to find an English marriage and I am aware that Sarah's father was discharged from the army to Dublin in 1853 so maybe his family were with him?
Their first child was born in England in 1857 but no marriage seems to exist!
Hope someone can help

Thanks

Thank you so much!

I didn't know Edward junior existed! I'm pretty new to this.
Yes, Edward senior was principal warder at Winson Green prison in Birmingham but I didn't know where abouts in Ireland he was born as it didn't say on the other census's.
I cannot find a marriage for them in England and I know that Sarah was in Dublin around 1853 so I presume they got married over there.
I don't have a birth certificate for either Edward or Sarah yet. I only have one for the youngest son Herbert who was my g-grandfather.
Thank you again for your help

Hi

The church Theresa was christened in was St Mary The Virgin, Dover.
I have searched for a marriage for Edward and Sarah and have been unsuccessfull.
On later census's, the family lived in Birmingham but I know Sarah Hannah Wassell was was christened in St Mary Magdalene Church Woolwich on 7th Jan 1835 but was born 21/6/1834.
Sarah's younger brother Samuel born 1826 and sister Emily born 1830 were both born in Birmingham, Aston I think, so I'm guessing the family moved to Dover.

Thanks

Lorraine
