One Name Studies: H to M / Re: KINGSMILL - Kent and other UK/Ireland

This is now a worldwide one-name study.

Looking for interested Kingsmills to join a DNA study with a principal aim to establish which families have a common founder, and to see if any of the Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Irish lines identified in the 1600s and before are related.

Kent Lookup Requests / Monks Horton PRs prior to 1584 - KINGSMILL
« on: Wednesday 28 May 14 17:26 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if by any remote chance anyone is able to help me by looking for the name Kingsmill / Kingsmell/ Kyngesmyll or similar in the first Monks Horton Parish records which I read started in 1563 for the dates prior to 1584 and not including an Agnes buried in 1583 (unless it confirms if a child/wife/widow and the marriages of an Elizabeth (1571) and Sarah (1575) which I know about already.  I believe there is also a list of incumbents shown in the Register and if a Kingsmill appears there it would be great!  Thank you.  Chris

Mathias' father Mathias is a direct ancestor of mine.  I think he was born in 1788 in Cucklington, Somerset.  I have some dates for early Dowdings in Cucklington that I have yet to look at.

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Brabourne Baptisms - KINGSMILL
« on: Wednesday 05 May 10 20:48 BST (UK)  »
Fantastic many thanks!  But confusing!  Is it 1815?  The IGI shows a daughter Mary baptised 25 Mar 1815 at Sellinge to Rebecca and Comfort.  The marriage cert shows Comfort's parish as Sellinge.  From the censuses they seem to have 10 children the last being a William in ~1837 (Elmsted) which further confounds things since the first William lived until 1875 and second to 1876.  I do not have a baptism for the William of ~1837 and the others are from a mixture of parishes.  Maybe the first William only took on the surname Kingsmill in later life.  I cannot find him in the 1841 census despite much searching.

I found her by just putting: Doxey, Lincolnshire, 1958 into the burials on Free Reg

Had to think hard and check and see it was www.freereg.org.uk
There are others but no Doxeys at http://skegnessvideo.com/2009/12/burials-in-st-clements-church-skegness/

Yes, Mary Ann's death was registered in the Worksop area as she died whilst staying with my grandparents at Bawtry.  My father told me she lived at Skegness.
