The Common Room / Re: GRO down since yesterday

Annoying , just tryin to identify a dna match who share my grandmother’s maiden surname.
There are around 4 or 5 possibilities, though if he was born abroad , I’d struggle.

2.28% dna match. I can more or less rule out 2nd cousin, as two of grandmother’s brothers are known to have no children .  There are so many lines possible at 3rd cousin level

At Alice’s death she is shown as widowed.
It is possible they separated at some point, maybe he stayed in Saskatchewan.

Most of the family emigrAged to Manitoba.
Edwin and his children lived there.
It is clear judging by family photographs that they visited BC and saw the family.

After Edwin died, they apparently moved there permanently.

Edwin, who I met, and Florence who we corresponded with were out contact points.

After Florence’s death we lost touch.

However the one re,pmaining branch of the family remained in Winnipeg, and I have managed to contact them.

The Aunt to Alice, Emma Caroline Smith nee Edward, and her husband, Dennis William Smithremained there, and the family lives there now

Well I have found possible candidates for Frederick.

Here is Alice’s obituary

A E Edwards is her cousin.
The only one I met was Edwin, my grandmother’s cousin, who I knew as uncle Ted

P.s.thanks for reply
