Glamorganshire / Re: Herbert Street, Cardiff, 1891.

Hi, your request caught my eye. My great great grandfather ran the Dock Tavern at 29 Herbert Street for many many years ( Edwin Robinson). Does anyone know if any photographs of The Dock Tavern still exist, was any historical research done before the dock development? Although you can walk down the street map it's not clear if any of the old properties remain at all or whether  the whole area was completely demolished..

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: TIMBRELL 1861 LOOK UP BERKELEY PLEASE
« on: Thursday 13 June 13 10:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi, hope you may be able to help. Although my search is not directly related to Berkeley. I am trying to clarify a marriage. I am related to thomas timbrell (timbrill) (tembrel) christened in Cheltenham but worked in tewkesbury, probably apprenticed there. I have him marrying a Betty Parsons (from Bushley nr Tewkesbury) around 1825. Another researcher has him married to an Elizabeth James in 1821 ( from Charlton Kings, nr Cheltenham). all the census refer to Betty b 1799/1800 which fits mine as Elizabeth is b 1803. Do you know anyone who maybe able to clarify which wife! both are reasonable or have  you come across this family in your research. hope you can help. Renu

I just caught this message. Do you have an Edward Ridgard b 1783 Manchester on your tree.  I believe I have him in the 1851 census in South Wales via his daughter Elinor Lewis nee Redgard ( but clearly looks like Ridgard on the original). I am also looking for a marriage between an Edward Ridgard and a Jane?. Any help would be much appreciated. Renu

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / Re: lewis/thomas family pembrokshire

Hi,
just to let you know that I can confirm Martha Lewis's father was John Lewis b 1813 Tailor living (1851) at Scotchwell Street Cartlett Kilns, wife Elinor. John Lewis married Elinor Redgards in 1842 (possible she had a previous marriage as she has a son Edward Redgards b 1838 or he ws born out of wedlock and took on her surname which is the more likely as John Lewis's father in Law is with them in the census.

I had trouble finding the family in 1861 as John Lewis, Tailor had died before then and Elinor was being called Ellen living at 11 Cartlett Kilns ( I think sharing a house with a Thomas Vaughan & family) A witness to Martha's wedding was a Mary Vaughan.

I hope to be able to track John Lewis's family including Martha's siblings. The puzzle is starting to shape up.

Gloucestershire / CARDEN, CROWLEY, RENNOLDS Bristol RC records

Hi is anyone able to help?
I recently found family members who were christened at St Joseph's RC in 1819,1831 and 1834. Adela Carden (Cardeen  a whole range of various spellings) I believe is Adelaide Carden who married William Moses Rennolds. Although christened in a Roman Catholic Church she is buried in Hebron Methodist Cemetery in Bedminster.

Adela's parents were John Carden and Mary Crowley. Mary herself was christened at St Joseph's in 1792 her parents Daniel and Mary Crowley ( Danielis & Mariae Crowley). Is anyone able to clarify if Daniel & Mary had any other children, and how I can find more out about Daniel and Mary. I believe they probably originate from Ireland but have no evidence for this or in fact cannot find any other info on them through the various online facilities.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

many thanks

Renu

Gloucestershire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: COMPLETED Hannah CARDEN
« on: Thursday 05 July 12 12:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi just to let you know if you don't already have the information but I think John Carden and Mary Crowley are the Joannais cudean and Mariae Crowley married in 1815 who had their children (at least some) baptised in the St Josephs Roman Catholic Church in  Bristol, parents Daniel and Mary Crowley, based on Mary's birth in 1792 christened at St Mary on the Quay. The christenings for their children Hannah, Elizabeth and Adelaide also known as Adela fit this couple perfectly. my ancestor Adelaide/Adela married into the Methodists and is buried in the Hebron Methodist churchyard in Bedminster. My guess is that Daniel is descended from Irish Ancestry but along way to go before I can prove that.

Best Wishes
