Oxfordshire / Re: Surnames Bourton/Borton, Allitt & Painter

Hi Cardiff,

I've always had trouble finding a marriage for Sarah Ann BORTON.  Her son Samuel T(J) Painter is with his grandparents in Oxf.1861 census as a 7yr. old no sign of Mum.  Then in 1871 census he is with his Aunt Eleanor (Borton) ROSCOE in Paddington, London as a 17yr.Old.  After that I can't find any sign of him.  Love to know if he was an orphan or just visiting.
Unfortunately christian names were not very varied in those days which makes it a lot harder to trace.  Most females left home to find work and some moved quite a distant.
Grateful for any info.

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: marriage of sarah borton.

Hi Mick,

I have just put a new request for Sarah Borton's marriage etc.  But the replies you have seem pretty good to me.  Samuel is her son as he is with his aunt Eleanor in the 1871 census in London.  I am descended thru Eleanor and the person you found on GenesReunited.  It has taken me a long time to join up to this site.  It looks good.

Now if you see my new requests perhaps you can give me the Allitt line.

Thanks

Hi,

Please could you look up Eleanor E. Borton & Robert Roscoe (2yrs old?).  Someone told me Eleanor took her charge with her to visit family in Oxfordshire.

I would like to know the address and people in the house.

Thanks.
