Hi Cardiff,
I've always had trouble finding a marriage for Sarah Ann BORTON. Her son Samuel T(J) Painter is with his grandparents in Oxf.1861 census as a 7yr. old no sign of Mum. Then in 1871 census he is with his Aunt Eleanor (Borton) ROSCOE in Paddington, London as a 17yr.Old. After that I can't find any sign of him. Love to know if he was an orphan or just visiting.
Unfortunately christian names were not very varied in those days which makes it a lot harder to trace. Most females left home to find work and some moved quite a distant.
Grateful for any info.
