Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Can't Decipher First Name

Didn't think of the Latin thing but now that makes total sense, they were Roman Catholic and there is other Latin on the document. I'm assuming "Petrus" means Peter?

The full page is too large to post but you can view it on the web: http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634187#page/72/mode/1up

I have an old family photo from the early 1920's in Chicago of my Grandfather, Great Aunt, Great Grandmother and my Great Grandfather, it's the only picture that exists of all of them together and I need some help restoring and cleaning it up a bit. There are some cracks and fuzziness and a large chunk missing at the top. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Can't Decipher First Name

I've been searching the Irish Parish Registry and came across a previously unknown member of my family. The entry is from February 4th 1880, to our untrained eyes the first name appears to be "Petrus" Kelly, which would be odd because Petrus isn't an Irish name.

My G Uncle Thomas Foster was a Roman Catholic Priest from 1936 til his death in 1979. Among the papers he left behind are 2 which appear to come from the Vatican, we believe they are his Parish assignment but can't be sure because they are in Latin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My GGGG Grandfather Mathias Speltz was in the military in Europe, he was supposedly a soldier in Napoleon's Army. I have an old Military Certificate of his but do not know what it says because it's in French. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very interesting. This is from the death certificate of my GG Uncle Peter Welter, he died in Chicago, IL in 1902. He was only 42 and had a wife and child so I am assuming his death was unexpected. We have no history of suicide in our family but we do have a history of ancestors being murdered, 3 so far, not that that happened in this case.
