WOW! Thank you so much KG!!
I did have some of this information but not about the boarding school!

Harriet and her children are a great story - they all immigrated to Canada in the early 20's
Harriet's sister, Jane is my ggrandmother who moved to Scotland but Jane's grand daughter (my mum) also emigrated to Canada! As I have been working on the family tree, I found Harriet et al only about 6 years ago. My mum had no idea she had relatives in Canada!

Such a shame. Harriet died in 1952 but her children were still alive at the time my mother emigrated. They have all passed away now, of course but there is still a tail of the family in the wind. The eldest sister of Harriet and Jane also emigrated to Canada (popular place!) and her decendents are still with us. I have been in contact but they have neither information nor interest in the family history.  Again. a shame.

Thank you!
Odd tho ... my dad insisted he was there too! He was about 3 or 4 ...

Would the story have been carried in any other newspapers?

Thanks so much!

Thank you so much, everyone.
It was the family home for a long time .... sad to see it has gone.

Yes, I understand now. Jane and Harriet probably worked from the house.  I thought perhaps, they worked in a shop in town.

Leitrim / dressmaker in Drumshanbo

Hello
My ggrandmother was a dressmaker in Drumshanbo, around 1900 or so.
Does anyone know of any dressmakers at that time?

She married in 1901 so my guess is she worked from around 1890 or so.  She was born in 1871 - Jane Sophia Higginson.

Thanks so much!

Hello all.
Can someone tell me if 57 William St., Blairgowrie still stands?
If so, could someone take a photo of the house?

Thanks so much!
