My condolences to you and your family Claire.  Adam was a treasure who willingly shared his knowledge of Durham's graveyards.
I was grateful for his help on more than one occasion and know he will be sadly missed.
Take care

Hi Adam
May thanks for your reply - I do apologise for not being more informative.  George did not have a middle name as far as I am aware and I think he may be buried in the 'paupers end' down in the corner behind one of the big trees.
As for the Rudds possibly mid-1800s into mid-1900s - I intend delving into directories with this info.  I think there were a few headstones Oct 2009.
Many thanks for the link too, that could be very interesting.
Keep up your wonderful work, it means an awful lot to us that cannot reach such places on a regular basis.
Wish the same was available for Netherwitton in Northumberland - can't find anyone to help me there at all with Gilfellon.  Never mind
As I say a big thank you

Hi Adam
I am searching for the Rudd family in St Cuthbert's, I visited a couple of years ago but looking for another grave at the time, George Wood.  George was my great grandfather although I believe there's no headstone, and the Rudd's were the owners of our home, and I am trying to find the history of the building I was born in, in Low Etherley. If you can be of any help I would be extremely grateful.
In anticipation

Hi Suzy W
I have family connections - still searching before hopefully a visit, in Leics, and found the an excellent site, with some very useful information regarding the village of Packington.  Type in your village in the bottom right box and see what comes up.  I found someone's very hard work in an excel spreadsheet of all marriages and christenings for Breedon on the Hill.  A few answers in there that helped save time when I do manage to get to the records office, or the Library which holds almost all the details within the area I am interested in.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were other angels like this in other areas??
Hope you find it of interest

Brilliant site, just type in the village you are interested in, in the box bottom right, then go to the forums either family history or whatever.  Lovely people I found two people who were extremely helpful in looking for my ancestors around the Leics/Derbyshire border.   : :D
