Armed Forces / Ernest Robert Southern, did he serve in WW2.
« on: Monday 28 December 20 21:53 GMT (UK)  »
Ernest Robert Southern was born on the 14th Aug 1922 in Durham but lived in the Cheshire area during the war years, he didn't marry until after the war in 1947.
Can anyone tell me what he did or if he served during World war two, ie where he served and any regimental numbers and so on.
Very interested in this ancestor of mine who seems very hard to find information for.
Dave.

The Common Room / Fold 3 lookup request please.

Hi, Hope this is ok, if not i will understand.
Looking for a lookup in the Fold 3 site for a person named only as E Southern, in the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve, her rank is SISTER and there may be 3 or more records over the years 1942, 1943 and 1945, could be more.
She may be a relation of mine, i just don't know.
Hoping for a good result which if the case i will spend some dosh and hunt for some more etc.
Thanking you.

David.

Thank you , i do need to do more research on the subject, yes i also need to look at the last name and last name idea, they are some and yes they do appear all over the country, i thik that there was less than a bout 10 in total when i had a look and used a year either siade of 1943 to try and capture a total amount, i will have to filter through them to see if any thing pops up.
Once again thanks for your input.

Cheshire / Marbury Hall POW camp WW2 Pregnancy ??
« on: Tuesday 17 November 20 03:51 GMT (UK)  »
There was a Prisoner of War camp at Marbury Hall near northwich during the second world war, my question is this, is it possible that a relation of mine became pregnant and the child later sent to north america, DNA has lead me to his being a possibility but with no more proof, ie the missing child would have been a girl born around 1943 and gave birth to a close relation of mine in America in 1962, my relation is searching for his biological mother and is this close now. he has a large amount of german DNA along with my british side and some other DNA from his fathers side, he has found his father since with help.
My female relation who may have been the grandmother of my close relation in america lived in the town of Marston, near Wincham which seems close enough to the POW camp for this to make it interesting.
Your thoughts on this matter would be of great interest and even any ideas of what to look for.
Dave.
