Thanks for getting back to me. just relized that the John brown you are talking about would have been born a lot earlier, after reading your other posts. Its all very interesting. I would appreciate any help with where they come from to have arrived at tassie. if i can help you let me know, i could email what i have so far that was given to me by another lady. thanks again. Is he named john edward brown? and do you know his fathers name ? also where is Maidstone ? is it in Australia . Thankyou from LInda Mayer. I have that john edward browns father was george brown born 1855 but have not got any furthur than that.

hi again, i do have some info for you but sadly i forgot who gave it to me. i am a begginner . but i can email a word document that i have only goes as far as john edward brown married to ellen o,connor. there was a sight i went on to get some more info ( tasmanian archives that i will post up now. thanks again. http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?detail.
I have read some of your posts and am now going to see where my ancestors enlisted.

hello my name is linda mayer and
 George brown m sussanah knights in 1876. they are my great great great great grandparents. i live in cairns australia. they had 12 kids either born in Deloraine or port sorell tasmania. the family ended up in Richmond Melbourne. dont know where any of them come from to get to tasmania and dont know where they are buried. could you please help me. thankyou.  Linda Mayer
