Hi Mabel , Bernards wife Galdys was born in Cefn, Wrexham so thery would have been headed there in 1936.
Also the 1921 address 1 The Grove in Hammersmith, is where Bernard is transcribed as a visitor at the house of Richard and Jane Wallis. Thanks for your help x

Millipede, ive just been looking at some of the passenger lists for Mary Hardys children, daughter Agnes Madeline Hardy born in 1894 she is on a passenger list in 1930 heading out from NY to Honolulu, and she mentions her mother Mary Hardy living in Hampstead London, so Mary was definatly alive in 1930 and living in Hampstead she would be around 65 years old in 1930.... slowly narrowing her down at last x

Brilliant thankyou so much for all your replys, it does look look they spent their early childhoods in workhouses and orphanages after their father died.
Im pretty sure his sister Hilda Hardy was out there at that time. Over the years other than Herbert and his brother Arthur, all of the brothers and sisters went to Canada or the USA. I have no idea what happened to their mother Mary unfortunatley. She is named on Bernards passenger and crew list in 1921 still as Mary Hardy and living at 84 Raglan road in London in 1921 but i cant find her at that address in 1921. Herbert was at 91 Raglan Road in 1921 as a visitor with the Lyle family xx

London and Middlesex / Herbert Ernest Hardy 1911 census help please
« on: Saturday 13 April 24 19:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi all
I am looking for a Herbert Ernest Hardy in 1911. He was born in 1896 to Frederick James Hardy and Mary Sullivan. In 1901 they were living in Christchurch Greenwich and Herbert Ernest Hardy was 4. He was with both his parents and 4 siblings, Frederick 13, Hilda 11, Agnes 7 and Arthur age 1. Another son Bernard Robert Hardy was born in 1902. His father Frederick Hardy died in 1903 in Greenwich. I cannot find any trace of Mary or the children in 1911. I have found Herbert Hardy in 1904 in the the Woolwich workhouse aged 8, he is with his sister Agnes and brother Arthur, no sign of mum anywhere. The only other mention of their mum Mary Hardy is on a Passenger and crew list for her son Bernard in 1921 living at 84 Raglan Road, London so she must have been somewhere in 1911 with her children. Another pair of eyes is very much appreciated in finding this family. Thankyou in advance xx

Thankyou all so much, i have just got the digital index for Joseph Tears birth and i am pretty sure its the correct registration. Caroline and Joseph must have made the name Tear up to avoid the stigma of Joseph being illigitimate, much appreciated and thanks again xx

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Joseph East birth registration help please
« on: Tuesday 02 April 24 18:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, I have a Joseph East born, according to his war records, on 13 March 1896 in Sheffield, but i cant find any birth registration for him anywhere.
His mother was called Caroline East born in Sheffield in 1878, Caroline married in 1899 to Joseph North in Lincoln.
Joseph would have been born illigitimatley to Caroline East.
Joseph East was 3 on the 1901 census (which actually puts his birth as 1898) and living with his mother Caroline and her husband Joseph North plus another North child aged 10 months. On the 1911 census Joseph East has become Joseph North aged 13  and living on Wragby Rd in Bardney with his mother and stepfather. I haven't found him in 1921 yet so unsure to whether he is using the surname North or East at the time.
He married a Kathleen Harrison in 1934 in Lincoln under the name East.
Joseph and Kathleen are not together in 1939.
Please could another pair of eyes see if they can find a birth registration for Joseph East and would he have had to be registered at that time.
Thanks in advance x

Hi all, i am really hoping someone will be able to help me. I am helping a friends mum try and locate a brother she had who was born in 1931 in Middlesex England and possibly taken to Wales as a small boy and adopted. I have found an electoral role on FindMyPast with the correct name and it gives his address as Blaenau Ffestiniog Gwynedd Wales. (I do have the full address but not able to put on here) the electoral roll states that he has lived at that address for the last 21 years up untill 2020 at least. Does any one know how i can maybe find out if he still lives there or if he is still around, i have thought about writing to him but as he would be in his late 80s i dont want to think the letter isnt genuine. If it is the correct gentleman he still has family in England that would love to have contact with him if of course he wanted that. What is the best way forward please. Thankyou in advance xx
