I think I've found the answer to the problem. CPRP is an unprotected site and Chrome had decided to stop showing parts, With some trouble I've managed to change "permissions" and this seems to have done the trick - touch wood.

Sorry - I thought it might be a bit long to be in the message. Thanks for opening it Girl Guide.

I might add that William Austin was my father's mother's ancestor. Also one difficulty with Austins is the occasional spellings of the name in the records - Astin, Asten, Ashton, etc. - making it difficult to differentiate from records of other families.

I've been trying for years to find the forebears of William Austin, but without resolution. I'm attaching some details and speculation about him. Does anyone fancy some detective work?

Thanks for the replies.
I find I can get the database using Internet Explorer, also Google instead of Google Chrome. I can now get baptisms, etc, for parishes, but when I click on an entry for details I get another error message. What on earth is going on?

The site opens correctly for me, but when I try to search for a baptism, marriage or burial, I still get the error message. Have you tried searching in the data base? I can't understand why it should be working for you but not for me. I can't see a way to contact the site - any suggestions?

I like the colour photograph. Regarding job in jeopardy, the loco appears to be stationary, and the date is pre nineteen fifties.

I'm delighted with the improvement to the photograph and the identification of the locomotive. I'm pretty sure that the boy in the cab was John Bee's nephew, Ian Bee. He was born in 1942 and looks about six in the photo, dating it to about 1948 which fits the information about the numbering of the engine.
As an aside, John Bee also drove the Flying Scotsman, and said he was the driver of the train in the film "The Thirtynine Steps", with Kenneth Moore, when it stopped on the Forth Bridge.
