I don't contribute to this topic but, has anyone else noticed the year is 2023 - where has all that time gone to?.
It's twenty three years since the "Millenium".
It's a very long time since I arrived in this world, it's a long time since I met my wife to be and it's also a long time since we, and still are, married- to each other I hasten to add.
I was thinking of asking the council for a blue plaque to be placed in the car park which is now on the site of the cinema where we met!.  8)
Anyway - a very happy, peaceful and healthy 2023 to you all.

Dublin is in the Flintshire village of Northop Hall which is called in Welsh, despite Wikipedia saying it is Neuadd Llaneurgain (literal translation), Pentre Moch. I leave you, dear reader, to translate.

Error - on behalf of the stone mason?. Should it be 1853, which if it was, then I would say he was in the Royal Navy at 13 years old and was at the Crimea when the war started?.

Whilst other countries appear to have no problem with I.D. cards there is, within the British psyche, an inherent objection to such things. Do we really need to be hearing "Papers please"?; the refrain usually heard in states more authoritarian than the U.K.. After all, apart from the need for I.D. cards during wartime, we have no history of the requirement for such documents.
It was a battle to get rid of them after the last war and the need to have them was not repealed until several years after the war ended. A typical example of state reluctance to relinquish control.
In a former existence I had to carry a form of I.D. card but now I no longer need it, I have no wish to have another just to prove who I am.
Furthermore, the problem is these things are never simple. Remember, they will be bureaucratic and that just breeds more bureaucracy.
No thank you to "vaccine passports" or I.D. cards.

Ethics and legalities apart, I am not in favour of so called vaccination passports. However, if we must have them then we must start with dates of vaccination with the vaccine batch numbers together with a photograph of the holder, the holders date of birth, perhaps N.I. number, and a brief physical description.
However, we can do without them - but not the vaccinations.
Also, if we must have "passports" , they must be paid for out of existing general taxation - free at the point of delivery as it were.

We have a week in July booked at our favourite B and B in west Wales which was booked during our annual stay there last July, which went very well. I just hope that we are able to go by then. If not, then maybe later in the year. Also, if we are able, we'll have another break somewhere in the U.K..
We have also re-booked our Baltic cruise which was cancelled last year and, all being well, we will be sailing away May 2022.
