Shropshire / Edwards, frodesley
« on: Tuesday 19 September 17 18:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am looking up our local pub, the swan at frodesley, and Richard Edwards kept it from 1913 until 1917 when he drowned in longnor Brook.  In 1934 it was kept according to Kelly by Mary Jane edwards, who died from this address and was buried at frodesley I  1938. I am trying to discern if they were married as they are about the same age, but obviously I have no place of birth to find them on the 1911 census. Also in 1911 the swan was kept by James edwards, I haven't found richard as a relation yet but could he be? Please  can you help?
Thanks
Clare

Shropshire / 1911 census
« on: Saturday 14 January 17 16:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.
I am trying to find Kinton Hall, Middleton Chirbury shropshire on the 1911 census. I don't think any of my ancestors were there then so I haven't got a name to search for which is foxing me rather with ancestry.
I did have ancesters there from 1865 - 1901 and thought the 1911 census would give me an indication of the size of the property - number of rooms etc.
Please can someone help?
Thanks

The Common Room / What is a Mason
« on: Saturday 14 January 17 08:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
One of my great ancestors was a Mason in rural shropshire. What was a mason? Was it a builder? It was generally a mining/ farming community. Also in 1872 he appeared to buy a cottage for £125. What sort of money would this be today?
Thanks

Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / Owned or rented?
« on: Saturday 17 September 16 10:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My ancestors lived at Dolfor Alehouse and Upper Aldress churchstoke for many years. Is it likely they would have owned or been tenants? Is it possible to look up whether farms were owned or on land estates,?
Many thanks for your help

My ancestors were at Dolfor Alehouse for quite a long period of time. Would they have owned it or been tenants? Also some relatives lived in churchstoke. Is it possible to find out of they owned their farm or if it was on an estate? Thanks

Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / Churchstoke - DAVIES, Thomas
« on: Friday 10 January 14 19:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for my 2nd Great grandfather, Thomas Davies, last seen at Upper Aldress in 1901 (where his daughter continued to live for at least a further 80 years). He was then seen at Hurdley in 1911 as a servant. I cannot find him dead for love nor money!. There is a Thomas died in 1916 in Montgomery but it is not him (I have the death cert). My Thomas was born about 1841 in Kerry, Montgomery. Thomas's wife Susannah died 1894 at Upper Aldress. The younger generation who died at Upper Aldress are buried in Churchstoke graveyard so I am hoping Thomas and Susannah are there too. Can anyone help with any possible burial records?

Thank you in advance  ;D
