Lancashire Lookup Requests / Marriage for October 1921
« on: Thursday 20 January 22 16:34 GMT (UK)  »
My great uncle Ralph McMullen married Hilda Carmen Blakey in October 1921.  Marriage records show place of marriage as Prestwich but I have a photograph outside the church which has writing on the back showing - "Ralph & Hilda's marriage St Anne's Crumpsall."
Can any kind person find the marriage registration showing the wedding was in St Anne's? Could St Anne's have been classed as Crumpsall?
Any help appreciated

Thanks for the link to their marriage.  I have already started looking for any marriages with father's name.  Will let you know if I have any luck.

Hi aghadowey - Yes, mother's name was Catherine Duff.  Mother married again immediately to Joseph Smith and they had two sons James and Samuel Smith.  James and Catherine married in 1851 in Dublin so there could have been children before Joseph.  The one of family search is James.

Armed Forces / McMULLEN family

I have been researching this family for a while and found father James McMullen died in India in 1864 of cholera while serving in an Irish Military Unit.  I'm now trying to find more information about his son Joseph McMullen who was born in India in 1865.  He married in 1886 and his wife was then living in Yorkshire. The little information I have is that he was a Corporal of 7th Dragoon Guards in 1871 and shows him born in Ireland but I have him born in India although his mother married again immediately and came back to England and he was certainly back in Yorkshire in 1891.
Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you Ladyhawk for all the information you have found. I'm not expert at this and I see from what you have said I have not confirmed some of my findings but I will answer as best I can.
Yes, this is the Elizabeth Ann Watson burial - PHILLIPS, ANN 63 GRO Reference: 1902 M Quarter in PRESTWICH Volume 08D Page 293
Elizabeth Ann Lock 7 Jun 1935 - Plot Number MConsecrated 2487 - no I don't have death cert so maybe you are right and I have the wrong wife.
And yes you have the right George Henry Lock.  The 1936 and 1937 children I found on the electoral register for Feltham 1965.
1929 birth - 21 Feb 1929 St Pancras London, United Kingdom xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx mothers maiden name WATSON GRO Reference: 1929 M Quarter in ST. PANCRAS Volume 01B Page 106
1928 birth - 1928 Chorlton xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Lock
The Annie Elizabeth Groves is the right one married to George Henry Lock b.born 2 Nov 1901 d.1993 married 1959
Perhaps I should give you a bit of background.  This is my husbands Grandfather George Henry Lock.  My husband remembers visiting his grandfather occasionally when he was about 10 yrs old with his father Robert Harry Lock.  My husband's mother refused to visit as she hated the woman she called Mrs Wilson who was the woman living with her father-in-law George.  I've yet to find the Wilson connection.
I don't know where Annie Elizabeth Groves was born or her parents.
I believed I had the right Elizabeth Ann Watson for death as she had always lived in Chorlton and the family story was that Robert Harry aged 17 and a little later Norman Lock both left home soon after mother died and George Henry moved new woman in who they didn't get along with.
Hope this clarifies a few points but realise I will have to get some certificates to clarify others.

Mostly Lock but they seemed to have used various names!
