One Name Studies: A to G / Callender of Scotland

Hi all, I'm still looking for any connection that would connect my Alexander Denny Callender who was born abt. 1755 place unknown & died abt 1818 in West Faliciana Parish, Louisiana. I can't seem to locate his parents & where he was born(I assume in USA). I have always been told by the older generation that we were Scottish. I know there are a lot of Callenders listed in Scotland; as a matter of fact there are a lot of Alexander Callenders. But, I know mine was born in USA. Can anyone instruct me in how I would go about connecting him to a Scotish family with just the info. I have?
Thanks to anyone who might help!

one more thing...

i just found this:

http://www.chem.gla.ac.uk/~gbarr/cinemas/scotland/denny.html

and wondered if it was a photograph of the picture house you are looking for info about. - it says below the older of the 2 photos that the original was opened in 1913 and demolished in 1960s.

regards,
Lorna.
if it is of any interest, there is a statistical account of Denny drawn up in 1839 at:

http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tom.paterson/places/sadenny.htm

i looked briefly at it but never saw the names you mention, but it was probably too early. - i saw one Anderson though: Edward Anderson, 23d September 1747 ; died April 1749 he was one of the ministers of the parish of Denny.

the page also has an old map of the parish of Denny.

and this (below) is a link to 1881 census for Denny.

http://www.tompaterson.ukfamily.com/census/Denny/Denny1881_sPage9.html

it is searchable by surname, then forename.

another thought would be to contact Falkirk Council Archives.

:)Hi, I just became a member and was reviewing some posts and saw yours. I have a MAJOR "brick wall" with my 5th Great Grandfather, Alexander Denny Callender. He was born abt. 1755 in ?. His parents were ? Having the middle name of Denny, I wondered if his ancestors came from there. Alexander was a pioneer to the Mississippi Territory around 1780. I am trying to back-track to try and find where his people came from in Scotland. Any assiatance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Claude Callender :)
