Hi Interested that you used to visit the farm. When would that have been? Who was your dad's friend? My grandmother was born on the farm :)

Hi Hovis. I don't live near Hawarden but have visited a few times. I know Wood Lane as my grandmother was born there. Have you looked into the Sheen family as the name Daniel gets passed down throught the generations. I would be interested if you have any info about the Sheens. Shirley

Hi Ivor

Are you related to the Weighs? Sounds like it. thanks for the geographical info!
Thanks to the info that Allan has provided I have now found some more children of Joseph and Martha ie Alice, Ellen, Thomas and Joseph (St Chads). I have a Martha Yates in my records, born 18919, but cannot find her on official records now and I cannot remember where I found her 4 years ago. Martha was present at the death of Joseph with a different address to Joseph so I think probabaly a daughter.

Strange.....I'm sure I recall that Barry Sheene's daughter is called Sydney which is a common name for girls in Hawarden!

Hi Brephy,

Jane Yates was my GT GT grandmother. She worked in service in a house in Liverepool around the time she met and married Edward Weigh. I really don't know why he would have been in Liverpool. I have the marriage certificate which confirms Jane's father is Jospeph. I have a death certificate for Joseph which says Martha Yates was present at death. I assumed that Martha was Josephs's daughter but after what Ivor has said it could have been his wife. I did find Martha Yates (sister) in a workhouse in Liverpool after Josephs death. That's probably all I know. I was not aware of Sarah Yates. I asked Liverpool records office to look up the yates in the Woolton area but they were unable to find anything for me so I gave up looking about 4 years ago. I stumbled across this website which has refreshed my interest. Look forward to your reply - I need to look up Maghull on map.

Hi All

Thank you for the recent news re the Weighs. I will definately look into the Weigh wills when I next go to Hawarden records office. I have traced the Weighs back to the end of the 1500s and have one or two maps old maps the area.By the way has Barry Sheen any significance for Hawarden? I have Sheens from Hawarden in my grandfathers tree.  Shirley :)

Hi Ivor. Jane's father I have as Joseph but was never sure of the mothers name. It may be Martha as Jane's sister was Martha too (died in workhouse :-[). I have them living in Woolton at one point. Not sure how far that is from Maghull? Jane of course married Edward Weigh. Are the Yate's in your family tree?
