New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: christchurch death record
« on: Thursday 26 January 06 12:42 GMT (UK)  »
I wondered if this might be the same family. This family lived in Sumner Christchurch. Ray Schou but don't recall wife as Josephine. Children Josephine, Pauline, Shirley and Suzanne.  First wife died of cancer.  Ray married twice more.  Second wife surname Belham.

Thank you for your help. Once again I haven't found the right family.  It was a long shot but I had found a Thomas wight living with  one of my families on 1891 census and thought the age was about right for the 1901 census.   Mine is spelt WHITE and I am looking for William but tying all avenues now.
Once again thanks for looking for me.
Glenda

I found a Benjamine White on 1901 census which could be him, but like I said his son William is too young.
Thank you for looking for me anyway, very much appreciated.

Thanks Damian.  Clutching at straws now but thought I just might have found Wiliam living with the family as a lodger perhaps.

Damian, the marriage certificate is also cause for confusion.
The certificate I have is a handwritten copy of the original dated 1915 it was sent to my grandmother Catherine White after she and William married and came to New Zealand.
William White and Maria (known as Catherine) Matthews married 21st October 1908 St Saviours Church Poplar. she is known as Catherine on certificate.  His age 28.  Occupation Seaman. fathers name Benjamin occupation Rigger.  Address for both William and Catherine 16 Lions Street.
I have found a Benjamin White occupation Seaman. which would perhaps fit on 1901 census with a son William but once again ages don't fit.
I would be interested to know who is in the Matthews household 1901 census.  Catherine is on it as Maria Matthews age 18 born Poplar London Occupation Factory Packer.
I don't know if this would hold any clues either.
Glenda.

Thanks Damian.  It was worth a try but sadly not my William.
I am totally at a loss as to where to go to next.  I have New Zealand Army papers for a William White ( absolutely sure it is my William) they give his birth date as Mary 1887 place of birth near London.  Unfortunately there are 2 ages also recorded in this record neither of which tie in with his birth date,  Have just received the birth cert of his son and the age given for William White doesn't fit him either although I am convinced that they are the right person.  He married Maria Matthews of Poplar London in 1908 hence the reason I thought I had him in Poplar  at age 25 in the 1901 census.
Thank you for your help anyway.
