Thanks very much. Are you able to advise where you found this info? I have tried searching but can't see any marriage info or details of the children.

Thanks again :)

These look like the parents
William Hawkins of Mannigford Bohun married Kitty Gully 18 September 1780 at Wilsford
Children all at Wilsford near Pewsey
Thomas bap 10 December 1780 buried 13 March 1781
Ann bap 17 Feb 1782
William bap 10 July 1785
George bap 23 September 1787
Kitty bap 22 February 1789
John bap 24 March 1793
CHARLES bap 6 December 1795

Charles was of Wilsford when he married Jemima Macklen witness Henry Aberman and Mary Ann Macklen  Ref: ancestry image

ADDED
1841 census looks like his brother John is living with them and his widowed mother in law

Wiltshire / Help finding out info on Charles Hawkins (c. 1795 - 1873)

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to get some info on my great x4 grandad, Charles Hawkins.

Charles was born approx. 1795 in Wiltshire and married Jemima Maclin or Macklen on 19 Jul 1818. I have Charles on the 41-71 census but can't find any baptism, so can see no way that I can go any further back on this line. The census records that he was born in Manningford Bohum/or Manningford Bruce. Charles died in 1873, RD Pewsey, Wiltshire.

There are lots of public trees on Ancestry showing a mother and father but none have any records or evidence that I can see to back up this info.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated as always :) thank you in advance.

Thank you, that's an amazing site! Such a shame there are no records for the Challis's pre 1763 when I know Thomas was born :/ Guess that's as far as I will get researching that side of the family.

My relative : Beatrice E BOWN married Thomas G CHALLIS, 1919, Wokingham, Berkshire

Treelines

http://www.treelines.co.uk

has Aldbourne marriages bond transcribed as well as other places and a Standarized  Family Index.  It also lists the Bondman e.g.  Margaret Bunce married Thomas Eyles a tailor from Ogbourne on the 18 Sept 1720 and a Thomas Bunce yeoman on Aldbourne was one of the Bondsman

I just googled Bunce Aldbourne and it took me straight to the searchable database.

Amazing, thank you Ribbo - I will take a look into these :)

Hi markcafc,
These entries may be of help - all in Aldbourne, Wilts;
bapt..;
29-5-1767 Ann Bunce d/o Thomas & Ann

Marriage;
 22-10-1765 Thomas Bunce, bac, otp to
Ann Church, sp, otp
By Licence

bapt.;
9-6-1742 Ann Church d/o Robert & Theodosia

All taken fron the records ex Wilts FHS.

The actual marriage record I have seen from the original register is as listed above. Suggesting to me that Thomas Bunce may have come from another parish.

Hey Neil,

Thanks for your reply :) I actually managed to find the marriage of Thomas and Ann in 1788, even got a banns of marriage record for it too :D

Just not sure how I could research further on from Thomas. Tried looking for the christenings of a Thomas Chalice (Challice, Challis etc.) but nothing :/

Thanks Rosie :)

When I search Ancestry it shows the marriage record but says "No Image - Text only collection" - Does this mean that Ancestry just don't have the images, or there are none in existence do you know?

TIA, Mark :)

Afternoon all,

With the help of various resources (and people on RC :)) I have managed to trace back to my Great Grandfather x5. I don't have his baptism record but have the of my Great Grandfather x4, Thomas Challis - baptised on Nov 8th 1795 in Aldbourne, Wiltshire - father Thomas Challis, Mother Ann.

According to Familysearch, Thomas Snr was born in 1763 and his wife Ann in 1767. They apparently married on 28th July 1788 but I can't find any records for either birth or marriage. Can anyone suggest how I can find out more about my great,great,great,great,great grandparents? Should these details be in Parish records?

Thank you in advance and sorry if this is a stupid question :)

Albert isn't on the next census as an 11 year old so where did he go I wonder.

Albert Victor Challis Williams died in 1984 aged just 4 years.The fact he is using the name Challis Williams makes me think about Emily being a Williams. Can't find any birth for him though :/
